Often, the government uses a minority group as a scapegoat to divert the attention of the population for the real problems in the country. The chosen group of people picked to be demonized are blamed for all the negative circumstances. They are portrayed as perpetrators standing in the way of the progress and prosperity of the nation. The anger of the general population is directed towards the future victims of genocide, which makes it easier to commit atrocities. This is due to the fact that if someone is evil, there are no moral restraints to destroy the
The statement in Markus Zusak’s piece, The Book Thief, states World War II was the result of the Germans’ love of burning things should not be taken literally at face value because the act of burning was seen as purification through the Germans’ eyes. “The Germans loved to burn things. Shops, synagogues, personal items, and of course, books. They enjoyed a good book burning, all right…” (Zusak 84). By burning objects and people the Germans’ didn’t mean any harm or negative destruction of any sort.
Even with this reputation, it’s not the only thing they did wrong. A different reason why the Crusades were negative is because they would kill the innocent. In Document 7, it states, “-the crusading knights were often abused and co,,ottoes atrocities against Eastern Orthodox Christians, Jews and Muslims in the areas through which they passed.” This “-made them hated by all groups throughout the region. This is important due to the fact that they’re killing innocents. They killed those who were bystanders.
One of the many tragic cases of human history is the Rwandan Genocide. It truly presents the corruptness of human nature and how strong one could hate another being. Rwanda is currently still slowly healing from this massive wound that its own people did to it. This grief event impacted other places or organizations other than Rwanda, such as the United Nations. The Rwanda Genocide not only impacted the world externally in causing damage to the country Rwanda, it also impacted the world; the reputation of the United Nations, the relationship between the two major groups of people in Rwanda and the entire perspective of the world for what is possible for humans to do.
It showed the darker side of people, and now we have to learn about the terrible things people did in the past. The term mob mentality is used to refer to unique behavioral characteristics that emerge when people are in large groups. It is often used in a negative sense, because the term “mob” typically conjures up an image of an aggressive, chaotic group of people. Social psychologists who study group behavior also use terms such as “herd behavior,” "herd mentality" or “crowd hysteria” to describe similar behaviors (Smith). It happens because people think they are doing the right thing by hurting other people.
He was born into a family that had anti-slavery values and who were also extremely religious. The sentiment that society can only be cleansed of their wrongful thinking was through violence is something that Brown wholeheartedly agreed with. He saw the acts of slavery as violent, atrocious, and dehumanizing and the only way to remove it was through bloodshed. Similar to other terrorists that get caught, there was an apparent lack of remorse for these murders when he is being investigated in trail. In his mind he believed that what he was doing was justified because of his “higher
I personally learned that when people act the way they do, there is a reason behind it, even when it seems their actions are crazy. Although these acts of murder are another level of radicalism, we need to realize why Shelley showed how greed and torment killed not only the life of the monster, but the tormenter himself. It needs to be looked at by society that every action has an equal and opposite reaction, and we need to treat all people equally. Earlier I used to feel hatred for the anger people showed negatively, but now my thoughts have changed to analyze the reason of their anger instead of just seeing the
As I think naturally, bad action such as killing people is bad surely. However, if I belong to Japanese soldier troops then I must kill people for my country who enemy from other county, it is a good way to do so. It is more like a right way because a lot of people who have same opinion or thoughts agree what they do.
In some of the genocides of the recent past, such as the Armenian massacres, the Holocaust, and the Rwandan genocide, a pattern of causes are shown prior to the act of ethnic annihilation. For example, the hardships and difficulties that infect the nation produces an overwhelming feeling of defeat. But many that experienced it had believed it to be just when accusing a minority to be unreasonably responsible for it. They target that specific population as it is easily done for their past had been tormented with the same discrimination. As this is seen consistently throughout the unfortunate multitude of genocides, it can be used as a means of preventing the murder of innocent lives.
The Nazi party normalized antisemitism and hate speech. That created ethical issues and dilemmas for the German community. Moral dilemmas of this nature are destructive as they can change someone’s life for the worst. Enabling hate speech and other forms of abhorrence made killing innocent people acceptable. Hitler implemented harsh policies that led to World War II and the mass murders of Jews.
This crime is a plan to destroy, “separates it from other crimes of humanity such as ethnic cleansing, which aims at forcibly expelling a group from a geographic area (by killing, forced deportation and other methods” (History). As Lemkin descried genocide, he stated that it has two phases. The first phase is the “destruction of the national pattern of the oppressed group, the other, the imposition of the national pattern of the oppressor” (Ficthelberg, 139.) This crime to me could be potentially seen as almost a business plan. The introduction of the plan, which is to destroy a group of people.
Violence is a better choice than non-violence because the Japanese began conquering nearby countries and treating people horribly until America joined in the war and used violence to stop the Japanese. During World War II the Americans were fighting the Japanese, “Japan conquered and treated people with cruelty and disrespect. Japan also kills and rapes innocent people” (32.2). Japan seized hold of many cities and treated people horribly and were very brutal. They also kill and rape faultless civilians.
The relationship of bullying and genocide.Bullying and Genocide why are they similar? Well for the obviously fact Genocide is a mass murder and Bullying is just inflicting pain to another human being; well that’s it both inflict pain to specific people, and the people who do these terrible things look above them think the people they are hurting are nothing but just waste of oxygen. This thesis is backed up by these pieces of evidence that have been gathered. In TEDx Talk, they speak about how the holocaust was influenced by hate and bullying and were targeting people like: gays, jews and blacks, which the Nazi’s saw them as “It’s” nothing more but just roaches and waste of space so they murdered them causing a genocide which they believed
