It says “there’s many ways he could have got rabies; at that time period they were many people getting it from bats”. He could have gotten rabies anywhere, maybe even on the way to Baltimore. Also, Dr. Benitez says “Poe refused alcohol in the hospital when they tried to give it to him and could only drink water with difficulty”. If Poe was drunk, he would have taken the drink, and also, rabies victims are afraid of water. Dr. Jerome also says “the writer was so sensitive to alcohol that a glass of wine would make him ill”.
Keltie was the first to be killed by Tilikum's stress and frustration. After Byrne death they closed down SeaLand and put Tilikum for sale. SeaWorld purchased him for their breeding program. The 54% of the Orcas at SeaWorld have Tilikums DNA. After 25 years at SeaWorld Tilikum started to show an abnormal and repetitive behavior where he would chew on metal gates and on the concrete sides of the tanks which has caused his teeth to warn down.
146 orcas have died in captivity, and 48 of those orcas have died at SeaWorld. The average person believes that orcas, also known as killer whales, are in captivity for their own well being, or to research their species, but that is false. Killer whales are tortured to do our bidding, for other people's entertainment and greediness. The orca trainers limit their food rations so that they become hungry enough to want the “food treat” after they do the tricks that are force upon them. Orcas do not belong in captivity, they belong in the ocean not in a tank.
Price uses sarcasm in her second paragraph to show how she thinks the flamingo trend is stupid. She claims, “This was a little ironic, since Americans had hunted flamingos to extinction in Florida in the late 1800s, for plumes and meat” (Lines 13-15). Through this, Price delineates how flamingos being hunted down was unimportant to Americans when flamingos became popular. Price criticizes the reaction of Americans in the situation of flamingo extinction to situation of flaming trend in order to show two-faced American mindset. Price also utilizes rhetorical question in her essay to further emphasize the importance of color pink.
Other words could have made Doodle’s fall sound like a mere accident that could happen to anyone, but by using “collapsed”, the author obviously shows that he fell because of his own weakness. Hurst also describes the group of fiddler crabs scuttling about as an “armada”. This contributes to the darkness of the passage because it shows the crabs in a war-like positioning. Usually, troops in a war are made extremely cautionary of mistakes before a coming storm, and the crabs may be preparing themselves for Doodle’s
Ric O’Barry conveys Mercury is the second most poisinist chemical in the entire world. The poison attacks, brain cells and the nervous systems, causing much damage to the body, possibly leading to dementia, lifelong brain damage, or death. Nevertheless the producers clearly share that dolphin meat is highly toxic and filled with mercury; the mercury could have jarring effects on many people's health including young children. During the documentary Ric O’Barry proves the small city of Taiji served mercury filled dolphin meat in their school lunches for children. Additionally Ric O’Barry video tapes and displays pictures of effects mercury can have.
“In those days, we had high expectations of raising them for food, and I’m deeply troubled by how it turned out,” he said in a speech in Shiga Prefecture (“Emperor regrets introducing invasive U.S. bluegill 50 years ago“, Nov 16, 2007). He then brought it back to Japan and gave them to the National Research Institute of Aquaculture. In 1996, the National Research Institute of Aquaculture released them into a lake called Ippei Ko in Shizuoka Prefecture. These bluegills spread because people used them for food for the largemouth bass, and some people caught them when they were fishing and then released them back into a different place and they spread everywhere. The bluegill is a strong fish that can survive in polluted water, and other fish populations have decreased
Additionally, in lines 3-5 of the excerpt from Beowulf, it states “Heard how Grendel [the monster] filled nights with horror and quickly commanded a boat filled out.” To summarize, Beowulf heard the news about Grendel terrorizing in Geatland, which does not affect his home or future, but he came to save the day anyways. Also, Malala Yousafzai symbolizes courage. In other words, Malala was protesting as an adolescent in Asia about a terrorist group called the Taliban. After the Taliban arrived on her bus and asked the children who Malala is with illegal firearms ready to fire, Malala had the gall to stand up. Pulling the trigger with all of their wickedness and hatred, the Taliban shot Malala and deserted her to perish like the summer soldiers part of the militia at Valley Forge.
The cause of Poe’s death is still widely debated today. Poe died of encephalitic rabies because of the likeness of Poe’s symptoms and those caused by rabies, Dr.Benitez backs his rabies theory up with irrefutable scientific evidence, also Pollin and Benedetto try to disprove the scientific evidence provided by Dr.Benitez with false information that portrays them as unreliable sources. Poe’s symptoms were very similar to those of rabies. Benitez says that Poe refused alcohol and could barely drink water: “Rabies victims frequently exhibit hydrophobia, or fear of water, because it is painful to swallow” (“Poe’s Death” 187). This statement by Benitez shows that he was hydrophobic and was not drinking anything.
Secondly, an example of the main idea is something that is frowned upon will not get you anywhere and the truth will always come up is when T. Chan Enterprises was asked to get closed down. “If our inspectors seized the product, something probably isn’t right with the fins … explaining why the agency had the authority to shut Chan’s shark-fin operation down”. Mr.Chan’s enterprise was shut down as the EPA and Inspector Paul Feldman caught him red handed as he was exposed of sharks being de-fined and tossed back into the ocean alive. The problem was that Mr.Chan broke the law and he did not rectify the procedure of processing the shark fins causing his whole operation to close. Lastly, an example of the main idea is something that is frowned upon will not get you anywhere and the truth will always come up is when Mr.Chan continued to do work of the shark fins even after they were told to close the operation.
For many it’s a first pet, a gift from family, something you won as a prize at a carnival, but for Canadian residents the familiar orange goldfish everyone knows and loves is becoming a serious problem. Some flush them in a hurry because they no longer want to take care of them, others commit them to a porcelain vortex because they believe their beloved fish has passed, and the Canadian Government is issuing a warning now to citizens of Canada to stop flushing their fish. Just a few goldfish with the potential to disrupt an entire ecosystem Goldfish are entering the ecosystem the way that a lot of invasive species end up in an environment they don’t belong, Humans are putting them there. Human interference is one of the leading causes of the beginning of over population of invading alien species. In this case many of the fish are going down drains, and ending up in Canada’s lakes and rivers.
Blackfish Blackfish, directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite, documents the history of Tilikum, a killer whale with a killing streak. Several ex-SeaWorld trainers, eyewitnesses, and a former whale catcher share their perspectives on killer whales in captivity and the attacks; their viewpoint is that the whales have undergone psychosis due to poor living conditions and treatment. Killer whales should not be held captive in their current conditions. In an early scene, a former whale catcher explains the emotional trauma he had when he caught whales such as Tilikum. He described that the workers were instructed to only take the young whales because they were easier to ship.
So when the alligators become a problem they are taken to a new location which can be the lake by the welcome center, the lake by the summit church, or the one by the solar field. Before Herman the UPD had to call the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission but they don’t take alligator calls anymore so then UPD had to settle to trapping them and then calling a Trappers. Trappers kill the alligators (Krebs). So much trouble goes into dealing with an alligator that’s why I strongly believe that we shouldn’t have gators living in the SoVi lake. What’s the point of constantly having to deal with this issue.
