Burger Queen Case Study

In my daily life, I socialize with many people with many personalities, but there is one person that I must see every day I go to work at Burger Queen. He is an extremely stressful manager because of how rude, mean, and inconsiderate to everyone at Burger Queen including the customers. His name is Mr. G., and he is not only my manager, but he is my general manager. Every day that I have to come into work is very miserable for me when I have to work with him. He hides his racial, and rude insult within small quotes or phrases that outsiders like customers or new workers don’t know or understand. For example, Mr. G. says, “Yea boy,” or “D*mn minorities,” he says these quotes to emphasize that I am messing up. He also has a habit of clocking…show more content…
G. does whether it's using racial comments, cheating workers out of money that they deserve by taking hours during breaks or him undermining the intelligence of workers and stressing other out; those things affect our work productivity. This happens because we just have no feeling of happiness and aggression as a result of that if he calls someone in because he makes us feel the way we do we are hesitant to come in when we are not scheduled because of the work environment he has created inside of the workplace. Marano states, " They have short fuses and are commonly cynical and mistrustful. … they are quick to blame" (440). It also affects us because whenever we get busy he goes into the bathroom to hide away and that lowers productivity that we have. Along with that when he is stressed, he takes it out on the workers, and this results in people getting fired just because he is upset and that also affects us because there are fewer people to help get work done in the manner it should because of him not having an outlet to relieve his…show more content…
The author says, "telltale signs are high sometimes explosive, reactivity, frequently disagreeable, cynical. Mistrustful. Does not like to be wrong" (440). In all the paragraphs that were stated above, he resembles these characteristics. I feel as though he could learn to control his anger and attitude he would be a great manager, but he has shown us that he really does not care and that it has to be his way. If he was to change the work environment would be totally different and things could get done in the manner and the way that they should get things done. But if he remains the way he is the condition of others and the job atmosphere will stay the same. We as workers have voiced our feelings and opinions to him and the owner of my Burger Queen, and now it is time to see if he will make the changes that are needed to be
