Ahmedabad BRTS is still under implementation process since 2006. CEPT team has been set up specifically for the designing of detailed system and support for the construction during implementations of BRTS.
Within Ahmedabad the BRTS development has been identified covering about 155 kms on road (in length). Existing AMTS (Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service) and earlier proposed metro plan committee has analyzed the travel demand patterns by passengers, frequently used road networks for travelling purpose within Ahmedabad and factors like socio-economic, pollution etc. have been taken into consideration for BRTS planning and implementation. This way these corridors were selected for running BRTS schedule (Time frame and frequency of buses) at various bus stops.
Today Ahmedabad has an area of 466 sq. kms where 6 million of population resides and around 2.7 million vehicles are running on road out of which 2 wheelers are 73%. After looking at all these factors BRTS has been scheduled so that it can run efficiently. Bus take trips of 0.9 million/day and length is 5.8 …show more content…

Running Mostly on time and APIS (automated passenger information system) has made and brought up Ahmedabad BRTS as a shining example. BRTS in Ahmedabad has been running so smoothly that some experts say that is Delhi could run BRTS in the same way they could have save around 150 crores annually. BRTS is more economical and financially feasible than a metro.

REDUCTION IN TRAFFIC:
According to (land transport authority) LTA the vehicle population growth rate lowered down to 1.0% to 1.5% in 2012 and .5% in 2013-14.
