Incorporated on the 6th of September 1954 in Mumbai (erstwhile Bombay), Voltas was the result of a joint venture between M/S Volkart Brothers and Tata Sons Ltd. This venture took over Volkart 's import and engineering businesses in India. The company went public in 1956 and Volkart Brothers sold their stake in the company. Today, it is amongst the premiere most air-conditioning and engineering services companies in India. Headquartered in Mumbai, the company has regional offices in several major cities in India as well as off shore spaces in Abu Dhabi (UAE), Hong Kong and Singapore. The company has its own manufacturing units in India at Thane (Maharashtra), Dadra and Pantnagar (Uttaranchal).
