CIS 235 HW1 Case 1 1. The ethical issues I found in this case were that the group needed to separate the group project into equal parts to make their project faster and more fair. Everyone should try their best to do each part well, it can make their group project smooth and to avoid affect the group project progress. Everyone felt likes they were doing well all the work, however as the semester continued, everyone was becoming busier then hold up the work. 2. Yes, Tom act in an ethical manner when he presented his opinion to professor, because he told the truth in his evaluation. In the beginning of the semester, each group member agreed they needed to finish their task, so no matter what happened, they should finish their part to make sure the group project progress. 3. In my opinion, the professor should meet with each group member to ask them why their evaluations’ situations were different. The …show more content…
From this case, I understand I must finish my own assignment totally by my own and did not modify the other homework even just some parts. When I had some problems don’t understand, I’d better ask professor or tutor. Case 3 1. The ethical issues I found in this case were a group project copy the other group work which was in the previous semester. One of their team member took the same class in the last semester then he just used his previous work in his new team work. 2. Ben was wrong. He shouldn’t use his previous group work in new semester. Because this group project was made by the other group members in the last semester too, it was not all he did. If their group used this work, it equivalent to copy the other’s assignment and this behavior doesn’t respect another group members’ effort. 3. I don’t think Ben offer everyone with the code was ethical, because this is a group project produced by another group, if he offers the code then his group member would used them in his new group, it equivalent to copy the other assignment, so it is
The answer to the first part of the question “Is my organization‘s ethics program working?” I would have to say partially. I say this because the diversity of our main campus verses the branch campuses are totally different. The branch campuses run virtually the same, but the main campus tend to do things much differently than they should. Jeremy S. Hyman and Lynn F. Jacobs explained in an article called “Why Does Diversity Matter at College Anyway?”

The Buffalo Creek Disaster written by Gerald M. Stern helped me understand the different decisions a lawyer must go through to help their clients. The Buffalo Creek Disaster was a man-made disaster that occurred in February 1972. The Buffalo Creek Mining Company’s coal waste refuse pile collapsed, leaving over 125 people dead and 4,000 people mentally distraught. The Arnold & Porter law firm was reached out to by survivors for help and Gerald M. Stern was appointed as the lawyer for the case, who eventually won $13.5 million for the survivors.
This article on ethics was really interesting and a dilemma that is prevalent within criminal justice. In the article Dr. Steven Davis recognized that students cheating in high school increased by 20% in the 1940 to 75% today. Davis stated, "If students lack ethics in high school and college, then there should be little surprise that they lack ethics in their careers. (2008). " This observation by Davis holds some value, because individuals that is willing to cheat to get ahead, definitely has no problem crossing ethical lines, because in their mind the wrong is acceptable, just as it was when they cheated.
Prior to submitting the assignment, I accessed the Turnitin website. This online website was a grading tool that scanned your paper for plagiarism, grammar, and spelling. The feedback from the website allowed me to correct any discrepancies that were overlooked while writing the assignment. After the assignment was submitted, I was informed by the instructor that I followed the format for writing assignment #2. I was given the opportunity to submit assignment #2 early, and resubmit assignment #1 at the assigned due date for assignment #2.

Renovation of the President’s and Executive Vice President’s offices were not in alignment with the broad objective of Woody 2000 project. It was included in the project just to make use of the opportunity that since other activities were being carried out, then why not include the renovation in the project as well. But since it did not serve the project’s objective, but just added to the project cost and time, it wasn’t a good idea. b. Write a simple project scope statement.
Students are given a certain deadline for work that is to be handed up which will put pressure on and tempt students to find the easiest access to the relevant information needed. Students may feel after submitting their own work that they do not receive the result they deserve and therefore could tempt them to take data and information from other sources in the hope to receive a higher grade in their next assignment. Whenever a student uses sourced material, this could be either published primary or secondary material, but can also be information got from other people, it must be indicated. It entails a solid set of values and failure to comply with these standard ethics may constitute an act of plagiarism. There are several things that count as plagiarism for instant, quoting exactly from another source, any ideas borrowed from another source, all ideas taken from the internet and any ideas paraphrased from another

Another dynamic is that people were easy to find out the weaknesses of the counselor. Every time we did the feedback part, people were usually pointed out the weaknesses of the counselor but rarely said somethings that counselor did well. I think it is very normal that people will emphasize the weaknesses but I think these feedbacks can make people do better so it is not a bad thing for
Kurt Lewin’s major contribution lies in the field of Group Dynamics, Field Theory and Action Research. He modelled the social change process in organisational, particularly, industrial setups. 1. Group Dynamics: - Lewin’s definition of a group is widely accepted. Here the basic line of argument is that groups come into being in a psychological sense ‘not because their members necessarily are similar to one another (although they may be); rather, a group exists when people in it realize their fate depends on the fate of the group as a whole’

The descriptive model of ethical decision making comprises of the way people typically make ethical decisions (Copper, 2012). Every ethical decision is based on the social and cultural context in which it occurs, this is inclusive of the ethical decision to become whistle blowers, as seen in the Dryburgh case study on which this paper is grounded. This paper is focused on demonstrating proper case analysis using Cooper’s ethical decision-making model on the Dryburgh Case Study, the case of Corcoran State Prison. Situation and Ethical Issues Involved in Dryburgh Case Study According to Cooper (2012), an ethical issue exists when competing or conflicting ethical principles or values are embedded in a practical problem.
