America has come such a long way to be known as the Melting Pot. The reason behind this is that America is extremely diverse and has many different people. Many of immigrants, both legal and illegal, from around the world, are migrating to here, in California. For some, this is an advantage. Economically, this means there are more consumers- more people to take advantage of the opportunities and resources that this state has to offer. On the other hand, this increase in population has put this state in debt. The educational system is suffering from a lack of programs. They bring in rich culture and diversity. According to David G. Lawrence (Professor at Westmont College) and Jeff Cummins (Professor at California State University, Fresno), how diversity often is reflected throughout the California people, and “as in the past, the state attracts immigrants from all over the world.” We have a wide range of cultures from “Iranians, Indians, Sri Lankans, Haitians, Koreans… moving to and throughout California in large numbers”. There are so much people immigrating to California. It may be hard to adjust to a new place, but there are many benefits for immigrants and from them to us. Immigrants bring many benefits to the California when it comes to business. Immigrants are more likely to start their own businesses and create more job opportunities for Californians and foreign workers. Immigrants offer manpower that America really needs. Immigrants take up labor jobs that Americans dislike to do for example: factory workers, maids and cleaners. So if immigrants don’t work at low wages, then the Americans would have to pay more, which the immigrants also end up doing. According to Daniel Griswold, director of the Center for Trade Policy Studies at the Cato Institute, “Immigrants also raise demand for goods as well as the supply. Immigration bring great benefits. Without immigration, the population would stop growing, The goal is to keep it stable, not to get rid of all of it completely. Immigration keeps the population and also the economy growing. But when massive amounts of people are immigrating to America, it becomes overwhelming to some people. The government must slow down the process of immigration soon. The population is growing fast and massive immigration is to blame. Not only is this a problem, but the economy of the United States is hurting too. Many people become unemployed and others are hit hard by paying high tax. The environment is also being harmed, due to the overpopulation factor. Immigration can become a serious problem without stricter laws. One of the reasons there is so much immigrant population in this country is because of the economy. In the past, immigration was helpful to the economy when people encouraged it so that the it could become prosperous and bring in diversity and help needed. Today, many people are afraid of losing their jobs. Immigration is currently flooding the labor market, primarily in the low-skill, low-wage sectors, and driving down wages and working conditions for many Americans because our immigration policies do not take economic conditions into account.
