Firstly, the arming of students, faculty and staff should be prohibited because its unsafe. The debate on whether staff, faculty and students should carry firearms on campuses has been going for years now. Some colleges have debated that a law should be passed were staff and faculty should carry firearms on campus, but other colleges have dismissed this case because it is dangerous and unsafe. According to Jesus Villahermosa’s essay “Guns don’t belong in the Hands of Administrators, Professors, or Students” he states, “I agree that allowing guns on campuses will create problems, not solve them.” This statement is true because not everyone is capable to handle a gun or even use one. Also, according to the website The Campaign to Keep Guns off
Today many people around the world and even in the US are scared about the next shooting and where it will take place. Many states don 't allow concealed carry on school grounds because they believe that the students are not ready for a responsibility like carrying a gun. Eight states in the US allow concealed carry on campus because the state has voted on it and passed it through government. Other states such as Georgia have discussed the topic on concealed carry but very very will vote for it because they feel students and faculty are not ready for such a big responsibility.
According to Kenzie Kesselring, allowing guns on college campuses is a horrible idea. Not only is dangerous to college students’ well-being, but it also threatens the institution of collegiate learning altogether (Stroud, K.). Moreover, open gun carry can make students fearful for their safety; they will no longer be comfortable debating or being themselves. Some students might even be distracted knowing that at any moment someone in their classroom could be legally carrying a gun. Would you feel safe sitting next to somebody who holds a gun? I won’t. I believe many would not either. It will create a tension in the air and might it would affect the studies of some students, who are fearful because their peers are carrying a concealed gun.
The U.S is one of the biggest advocates for gun rights and also the world leading country for gun ownership. Most recent data shows that we hold first place for country with the most guns per capita at 88.8 per 100 persons.(cbcnews.com) You would think that a country that supports gun ownership that much would allow for them to be carried everywhere with certain exceptions. Our right to keep a gun is protected by the second amendment, which says “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” One of the most controversial topics regarding guns is weather or not we should be allowed to carry them on school buildings. Since the year 2000 there has been 176 schools shooting incident in the U.S where one or more person resulted injured or dead. Should we really trust our lives to signs that say, “No guns allowed” or the two or three security officers that have to cover the whole campus?
In 2007, there was a shooting at Virginia Tech University, leading to thirty-three people were killed and fifteen were wounded. Many of the victims were students and shot in dorm and a classroom building. The murderer was senior-level undergraduate student. He was diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorders known as selective autism and major depressive disorders. Most people do not know what guns can cause the world. Guns should not be allowed on college campuses because it will increase violence, and they can be dangerous.
Students today live their day-to-day lives in constant fear of what seems inevitable. The United States has one of the highests rates of school shootings in the world. Society has become so desensitized to these shootings that they are no longer shocked to hear about another school falling victim to it. Even when students take a stand against gun violence, the only solution offered to them is a proposition to arm teachers. However, bringing more guns into a school will only further deteriorate the situation. Teachers should not be armed in schools because the could not handle a real situation, and the liability is too much of a risk.
On April 16, 2007, 32 people were murdered and another 23 were wounded, either by Seung-Hui Cho, the man doing the killing, or by jumping out of windows to escape him. That day Seung-Hui Cho used a Glock 19 and a Walther P22 to commit the second deadliest shootout in US history. While many people, like Josh Sugarmann and his Concealed Carry Killers report would have one believe that allowing people to conceal carry on campus would of made things worse, but I believe just the opposite. If someone in there had been concealed carrying. It could of had ended the massacre right there, or at least slowed it down enough to save some more lives. Concealed carry should be allowed on college campuses, like it is in many other places,
There has been a long standing debate in America regarding open carry. Some people believe that open carry will help protect others from harm. Recently, on June 1, 2015, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed the Campus Carry Law, allowing licensed holders to carry a handgun on college and university campuses, effective next year, August 1, 2016. Gun Control laws need to be controlled, that is indeed true, proven by the 335 public shootings in the country this year alone. Open carry will not be a solution to this growing problem, it may in fact help increase its numbers. Texas allowing open carry in college campuses will be an invitation to chaos as it will increase the rick of others, will not make people feel safe, and lead to more violence.
Concealed carry on college campuses is an ongoing controversy in today’s society. There are a lot of questions and valid points from both sides of agreement and disagreement. The following essay will answer the readers’ questions about concealed carry and persuade them to agree with the right side.
Gun laws are constantly changing rapidly, but the latest issue concerning them is whether or not legislation should allow guns on college and university campuses. Throughout the last couple of years, guns have become a strong topic all over the United States, because they are coming into the possession of the wrong people. Many students and some teachers feel strongly about this topic, many are concerned about issues it may cause. But, some do not consider how unsafe this world is, and bringing guns to campuses isn’t going to make it easier or harder for people to attain them. Firearms should be prohibited based on the crime rates at college campuses, the fact the police take ample amounts of time to arrive on scenes, many students cannot defend themselves in certain situations, and the second amendment states that anyone over the age of 18 has the right to bear arms.
Parents feel that guns should be allowed on campus so that students and staff can protect themselves in dangerous situations and also by being an American citizen it is one of our Constitutional rights. Guns should be allowed on college campuses because they provide better safety for students, the second amendment, and when requirements for carrying a weapon are in place.
Should teachers and students be allowed to carry guns on campus? It would decrease the probability of a school shooting and if one does happen they can intervene quicker. Staff and students should be allowed to get a special permit to carry on college campuses.

To begin with, we are living in one of the most violent time in the last decade. There has been more mass shooting in schools and colleges than ever before. Government can not seem to find a solution for this mass shooting. This brings us to the main topic of whether or not we should allow guns in college campus. There might be some benefit of carrying guns in college such as making the shooter afraid and prevent a mass shooting. But there are lots of disadvantages as well. The reasons why we should not permit guns in college because it will cause more violence, students are not mature enough and it is not safe.
Guns have no role in our country schools. Schools and colleges are places of education. Students should be free to learn in an environment away from every day violence. The catastrophes that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Columbine High School, and Virginia Tech. confirm the penetrating conclusion guns have in our nation’s schools. Violence on campus has Students, Parent, and University Staff all concerned and looking for preventative measures. Guns on campuses make the vulnerable even more vulnerable. Even though having guns on campus would improve response time, having guns on campus would also increases the chances of a confrontation escalating and turning lethal.
