The three careers I chose to examine were IT Security Administrator, Forensics Investigator, and Obstetrician Gynecologist. I chose these careers because I discovered that the employment rates for these jobs are expected to grow at a faster than average 37% from 2012-2022. This is because data security threats are growing and with more digital technology rising, more organizations have become victims of cyber crimes. The other career is what I want to be. Internet Security Administrators, also known as computer security specialists, or Internet security specialists, protect computer systems against attack.
In future years the work we know and do will be changed. With current emerging technologies, such as the 3D printer, Wi-Fi, or mobile devices, jobs have already been impacted from what was done in the ‘olden days’ or before the introduction of these advancements. Three careers have been chosen to display how this information technology (IT) impacts on work, these careers being medicine, education, and journalism. They have been chosen based on how their careers have largely been positively impacted and changed because of these advancements. The examples below will demonstrate how IT has shown to be an overall positive addition to the work industry.
Further education into certain fields are not as beneficial as other degrees. Recent college graduates that are not able to attain a job in their chosen field have to make circumstantial decisions to work in other positions, sometimes totally different than the degree they achieved, leaving them unprepared for the challenges of the work environment. This is caused by a low supply of the job being offered in comparison to the demand of graduates pursuing the
Focus 2 Assignment – Reflection Upon completing the Focus 2 career assessment program, I am quite impressed at the quality of information it presents. It allowed me to not only look at careers that would fit my personality, but also those that take into consideration the fields I am already interested in. Also, as with any form of self-assessment, there were strengths and weaknesses that I did not expect based on how I feel I live my life currently. Beginning chronologically, the program had me complete two subjective, current measures of my professional career.

I come from a small community plagued with poverty and low opportunities. My parents never completed high school and struggle financially. The members of my community are mostly migrant workers. The region where I live has the highest unemployment rate in California. Despite this, I want to better myself.
As Senior year continues it is time to get serious and start thinking about the future. Up until freshman year I didn’t know what I wanted to do as my future career. All I knew was that I wanted to go into a career that I enjoyed going to work every day not something that I am going to dread for the rest of my life. I thought about criminal justice, being a nurse, and even being a lawyer; however, freshman year I finally found my career calling. I joined the Agricultural Education Program and realized that I want to go into Animal Science.
About 18 years ago, I became a part of my parents life. As usual, they taught me basic discipline, defense, leadership and more. My family is from Hispanic heritage, where completing a college education is not expected for the future. As a result, my parents enforced the importance of education, and encouraged me to graduate high school and further my education by attending the college of my choice. In addition, I have recently graduated high school with Honors, and it was an incredible feeling being able to make my parents proud knowing that I am the first Honor graduate even in my extended family.
Theoretical assumptions: People used to see career counselling as making a decision in regard to which career path to follow after having one or two meetings with a career counsellor (Krumboltz, Foley & Cotter, 2013). According to Hall (2004) this few has changed over the past two decades and it is clear that career development is not a onetime choice but rather a lifelong process. Savickas (2012) argues that the form of career intervention must change just like the form of work changes to reflect the labor needs of the twenty-first century. Krumboltz, Foley and Cotter (2013) argues that clients must create more satisfying lives for themselves with the help of counsellors. A model of career counselling, the happenstance learning theory, helps
