Caregiving is best for people who can adapt quickly, and accept change easily. TIP #14: What makes a good caregiver? It is a set of qualities that certain human beings possess and others do not. It is all about personality and how that personality fits with the patient and the members of their family. TIP #15: Caregivers solve problems. As the caregiver you can help the patient deal with these challenges and get through any problems that come up. One of them is to call all the doctors involved in the patient’s care and tell them about any pain or side effects from medications. TIP #16: How a person accepts criticism is usually a reliable indication of whether or not they feel responsible for their patient. Anyone who cannot admit past mistakes should be viewed with suspicion. Caregivers who place blame for things that go wrong everywhere but themselves are not to be trusted. TIP #17: Caregivers tend to feel as if they are passing on a tradition of care and that by modeling caregiving, their children and/or relatives will hopefully be more likely to care for them if
With input from all parties, a care plan can be developed. In many cases, both a home health aide and an in-home caregiver will be required to ensure the proper level of care, one that allows the senior to stay in his or her home. In the event a patient needs home health care in addition to a personal care aide, we are happy to help. We work with home health agencies to ensure our clients have the help they need at all times, regardless of what is involved.
This is more than just the financial resources that they have, but also their psychological and physical health and their spiritual outlook on life and the situation. One important factor is the caregiver's location and place of residence in relation to that of the person to be cared for. It must also be remembered that the carer has a life outside of this role and, therefore, important factors in caring include other day-to-day roles such as being an employee, a parent and a professional person. The carer is also affected by the opinions and demands of people outside the caregiving relationship. Caregivers are also facing a health care system that seems to be placing more responsibilities on caregivers while providing less and less
Family members can provide great emotional and social support. Gender roles are very much present when taking care of an older adult. Females tend to provide most of the nurturing and caregiving. Daughter are involved in the housekeeping and household chores. The male is the provider.

The outcomes of providing care to multiple generations at a time can be positive (DeRigne, 2012). The first essay I chose to read was called I Am in Dementia Prison with My Mom, Janet had no prior knowledge or understanding as to why her mother’s health, mind, and thought process was deteriorating. She couldn’t come to terms with her mom being mental sick and when she did she had help and support from her entire family. The second was titled Transferring Mom was New, But Restlessness and Inactivity Kindled her Agitation. Against her and he husband better judgment she took her mom to the store. I believe she did this because she did not want to tell her mom no, as a caregiver, especially to a loved one sometime following your intuition and saying no can be difficult
For instance, according to Tronto (1993: 109), care-givers will find that their needs to look after themselves will come in conflict with the care they must provide others, which is why care-givers ability to mediate these conflicts will affect the quality of care. As aforementioned, care revolves
In the past I have shown my strength in this area of nursing care when looking after family members that have fallen victim to sickness. Whenever someone tells me that they are not feeling well, I immediately jump into action and try my best to make sure that they feel “cared for” .The feeling of pride and satisfaction I experience after caring for a person that is unwell is what originally made me choose nursing as a career. Caring is a basic attribute of human growth and development (Griffin 1983). This is why, as a nursing student I know it is such an important strength to be utilised when helping a patient to feel better.

“In the United States, life expectancy increased from forty-five years in 1900 to seventy-eight years in 2007” (U.S Census Bureau, 2011). The longer life expectancies are a result from advantages to children and families such as advanced immunizations, improved housing, and cleaner drinking water. The multi-generational families allow children and families to spend more time with their grandparents. “Grandparents influence grandchildren directly when they serve as caregivers, playmates, and family historians who pass on information that solidifies a sense of generational continuity” (Brooks, 2010). In my opinion, the ability to have grandparents living with families, or around long enough to help raise and share history with children is invaluable and I find this to be one of the most advantageous aspects for children and
