The Carnival Celebration Carnival, Grenada’s biggest celebrated holiday, is celebrated once a year in the second week of August where two days are specifically given as holidays to celebrate. This celebration generates an enormous economic package as thousands of locals regularly participate and an influx of visitors buzzes in to join the festivity. It provides an opportunity for Grenadian citizens living abroad to return with family and friends to visit family, relatives and friends while having events to participate in. Additionally, it provides an opportunity for foreign visitors to explore the island, experience our culture, escape for some leisure time and participate in various events. During this time, the country is bustling with economic activities of various kinds. Each economic partners such as transporters, financial institutions, food sellers, hoteliers amongst others benefits in some way or the other, whether through direct interaction or rippled effect interaction. The governing body benefits financially as revenues are generated by themselves and businesses that in turn will pay VAT and through the island being promoted with the assortment of activities. “Fantastic Friday” is constituted by the events of soca and groovy monarch on one stage. The groovy, which is a slower, more focused themed genre compared to soca monarch begins the night. The soca monarch which is otherwise faster, hyped less focused and lyrically rambled follows after. The artists of both monarchs render engaging, pleasurable, appealing, and jovial music back by the Grenada Police Band. The event sees an array of props, tempo, rhythm and lyrics that artists employ to deliver remarkable performances to capture the crown and win monetary prices.
