Cartoon make an appearance in our newspaper since 1930s and had played important role in the society specifically the development of Malays cultural and political development until today. Malay editorial cartoon criticizing, satirizing, and exposed the flaws of any domestic issues as well as international. Thus, being used ultimately as tool to improve Malays attitude in general. We have general ideas of what cartoon is but by definition according to English cartoonist David Low’s, a cartoon is a drawing, representational, or symbolic, that makes a satirical, witty , or humorous point. It may or may not have a caption and may comprise more than one panel. Cartoon usually appear in periodical publications. Most frequently, their target are in the field of political or public affairs, but they may be social customs, fashions or sports events or personalities (Mahamood, M. 2004). Based on David Low’s comprehensive definition on cartoon comprises all the aspects that need to touch in order to evaluate an artwork of cartoon; formalistic aspects, iconography, theme, message, style, method of criticism and humour.
