“There. We have a, there’s a note left and our daughter’s gone.” Were Patsy Ramsey's words while on the phone, reporting her six year old daughter’s disappearance to 911 at 5:52 a.m. on Christmas day in 1996. The missing six year old girl was JonBenet Ramsey. When she was found murdered, it was obvious she suffered from various injuries. Including being strangled by a rope around her neck, sexual assault, and other minor injuries. Meanwhile in the case of the unsolved murder of JonBenet, scientists continue to work toward answers using forensic science to discover unknown DNA, observing the unusual ransom note left behind at the scene, and even having theories with evidence of their own for who could be responsible. In the first place, JonBenet …show more content…
When the police first arrived onto the scene of the murder, the child had not been found yet. They started to do a deeper look into the house when all of a sudden John comes up from the basement stairs carrying JonBenet’s dead body, despite being told if he did find anything to leave in its original placement. Obviously ignoring these orders, John even ripped off the piece of duct tape from JonBenet’s mouth. When John covered her dead body with a blanket and laid her down, this caused him to destroy some vital evidence that could've been found if he had not removed her from her original stance in the basement. The first police officer to arrive at the crime, Linda Ardndt, spoke out to the public about John’s strange behavior the day of the murder. She talked about how instead of grieving, John was trying to book a flight for Atlanta for the next day. When questioned about this in an interview, John defended himself by saying that the police had asked him and his family to leave their home. Now onto the sexual abuse rumors that John was accused of. There is no evidence concluding that John actually did commit sexual acts on his six year old, but in JonBenet’s autopsy reports, signs of sexual abuse did show
Some think the family wrote the note since it seemed to have been rewritten several times, but the intruder was most likely trying to write the best paper without giving any hints to as who it might be. The note gave them the option to have their child returned as said by CNN Library,“JonBenét's mother, Patsy, says she found a ransom note demanding $118,000 for JonBenét's return,” ("JonBenet Ramsey"). The note had a time on it, the family couldn't call the police, but had to wait for a phone call. The majority think that since they never got a call, the family must have done it, but instead, it could have been the killers focusing on the escape. Hive provides us with key information about the note, “The ransom note warned the couple not to contact the police but to await a phone call between 8 and 10 that morning,” ("JONBENET RAMSEY").
The medical examiner also stated rape was not indicated from the autopsy; however, sexual assault may have been a factor. The autopsy showed JonBenet had consumed pineapple before being murdered (Death of a Six, 2017). Investigators believe JonBenet died somewhere between 10pm on Christmas and 6am the following morning. Due to the decomposition of her body, it’s believed it was closer to 10pm (Death of a Six,
Also, the handwriting was found to definitely not be his. As for the raping the object that was used was said to be very small; like the size of the end of a paintbrush (which was never found). Therefore I don’t think John murdered Jonbenet. Evaluation - Burke Ramsey: I don’t think Burke committed the crime either. Even though his behavior was odd.
For example, they found cut up pineapples with Burke's fingerprints on it. On the autopsy performed on JonBenet, it showed that she has previously eaten pineapples before the time of her death. Burke, JonBenet's brother, claims he never even came near pineapple. Another piece of evidence that was found was blood on JonBenet's underwear. A DNA sample of the blood was extracted and tested.
The Unsolved Murder of Jonbenét Ramsey On the morning of December 26, 1996, Jonbenét Ramsey, a 6-year-old beauty pageant queen, was pronounced kidnapped in an emergency 911 call. Later that day, Jonbenét Ramsey was found dead in her family’s home in Boulder, Colorado. The case was flourishing among the media, following every step of the case. Eventually, the story would expand within the entire United States.
I am very familiar with this tragic event that occurred December 26, 1996 in the Ramsey household. JonBenet Ramsey was located in her basement home where her father John, her mother Patsy and brother Burke also lived. Before her lifeless body was discovered Patsy found a ransom note in the home demanding a large sum of money. It was shown that JonBenet’s skull was fractured, she had been strangled and molested. There was blood located in JonBenet’s underwear that did not belong to her.
The police investigation began instantly as a child abduction case, but soon took a turn for the worse when Jonbenet’s father, John Ramsey found her dead in the basement of her own house. “She was lying on the cold cement floor of the wine cellar with blood and bruises on her head, and a cord around her neck” (Agrawal). Immediately the child abduction case turned into that of a cold blooded murder. “The police should have done a better job controlling the crime scene from the begining” (Adams). With John Ramsey picking up his daughter’s dead body, and family friends walking around the house all morning, the chances of finding any evidence within the house was diminished.
In over 20 years no one has been able to say exactly who killed JonBenet, why she was killed, or what happened between the last time she was seen, the night of December 25 and the next afternoon when she was found in her basement. With the research collected there is a great certainty that her father killed her and her mother helped to cover it up. Her family has been hit with questions about JonBenet and theories from all sides with very little evidence to link them to it but with an analysis of the crime and the family that link has been found. you will lead down the dark road of what happened in the early hours of December 26, 1996, and put pieces together about how the parents of such an “adoring” family could have killed JonBenet and gotten
The death of 6-year-old Jonbenet was shocking and gruesome. The killer was never found, but evidence suggests it was the family. JonBenet was a six-year-old girl who participated in beauty pageants. On December 26th, a ransom note was found asking the Rasmey for money in return for their daughter. JonBenet’s body was found eight hours later in a part of the Ramsey home, murdered, and showed signs she was sexually assaulted.
The cause of death would be known as “asphyxia by strangulation associated with craniocerebral trauma. Also, there were signs of sexual assult but they are not sure when this happened. Days after JonBenets murder, there was strange behavior of her parents this included an interview they had. On January 1, 1997, Patsy and John Ramsey went on CNN news for an exclusive interview, just after 24 hours after they buried JonBenet. During this interview, they took about 27 minutes to tell their experience of the morning that Miss.
The autopsy revealed JonBenét was strangled with a “garrote made from a tweed cord” (####). Also, JonBenét had a fractured skull which the Medical Examiner believed a broken paintbrush handle was the item that caused the injury. The garrote was tied in a manner where the person who did so had an advanced knowledge of knots. The Medical Examiner did believe there was a possibility JonBenét was sexually assaulted; however, no evidence of rape was found. Before JonBenét death she had eaten a pineapple.
JonBenet Ramsey who was a young loving beauty queen of Colorado, who’s live was taken way too early. JonBenet was murdered in her home in Boulder Colorado on December 26, 1996 at the age of six. After completing my research, I was able to make a prediction of who I believed murdered the incent child, and it did not take much research to see the mistakes made by the Boulder Police Department. The Boulder Police Department made numerous mistakes in the JonBenet Ramsey case.
On December 26th, 1996, in Boulder County, Colorado, JonBenet Ramsey, age 6, was reported missing by her mother, Patsy Ramsey, at 5:52 AM. Patsy said that she found a ransom note and her daughter, JonBenet, was not in her bed. Police arrived at the crime scene at 6:10 AM. By the time they came the Ramseys already had friends and family cleaning their home. This may have been an attempt to comfort the family, but detectives say it could be why this case remains unsolved.
Karr explained that he “drugged JonBenet and sexually assaulted her before accidentally killing her” (“JonBenet Ramsey Murder Fast Facts”). JonBenet was sexually assaulted by an unknown male, but, based on the evidence from the autopsy, she wasn’t drugged at all before she was murdered. John Karr was accused of child pornography in the past and wrote a love letter to her before an anniversary of her death (“New Reports Could Link Karr to JonBenet”). Equally important, Karr confessed that he was not an innocent man (Montagne). These three suspects could just have coincidental relations to JonBenet’s murder or they could have some involvement in her
The girls body however was found in the basement later that afternoon. JonBenet’s skull had been fractured, she had been sexually assaulted, she was strangled with a garrote made from one of patsy’s paintbrushes. The police suspected that the ransom note had been written by Patsy and the ransom note and the appearance of the child’s body had been staged by her parents in order to cover up the crime. Apparently JonBenet's official cause of death was asphyxia a by strangulation. Her death was classified as
