PROBLEM STATEMENT
As a successful growing company, Dell was faced with decline that happened to the PC industry. There was 10% out of 30% decline in growth rate in the Personal Computer industry. This decline was as a result of the technological bubble, outburst of Internet, economic slowdown (i.e low demand of PC’s because a lot of people tend to hold on to their PCs longer) and market saturation.
For Dell to maintain its growth rate (which is 20%) andmaintain its leading edge over competitors,the company’s top management is faced with the options of expanding in international market (by unlocking the 3 key countries regions in south America, Asia, Europe), product growth (Storage and Server)

STORAGE(FORMING ALLIANCE WITH EMC)
EMC sold storage that was external to the server and customers preferred it because of the greater manageability and reliability unlike the Direct attach storage or DAS that was inside the server in form of multiple disk drives. Seeing that EMC has achieved a good amount of sales and also dominated the external storage market (in terms of market share, R&D and customer service), Dell saw this as an opportunity to its model (as it was lacking research and development, also dell has small amount of shares). In addition, Dell announced that a marketing alliance with EMC under which Dell would become a major sales channel for EMC’s ClaRiiON line of products.

Dell should also change its marketing campaign by spending more time/money on advertising to the people of china. Also, Dell is used to dealing with educated people who know how to use technology; Dell should take their timeto employ people that will educate these people, in other for them to have a flair for Dell. Most people in china wont be used to online payment, getting a sales representative to educate them about online payment. Letting them know online shopping is safe, secure and fast. The company assesses a program for risk –based product safety and quality at every stage in the product life cycle, from development through the life of brand product. Target global team implement a program across 36 countries and 2228 factories producing target product, during the process will require independent third-party testing to validate safety and quality before the guests purchase product. the vendor in the company are expected to employ best practices, including clearly defined and well-documented manufacturing and quality processes including staff training , and record keeping.
