There are many stakeholders involved with health care administrations. Those stakeholders can be patients, health care physician, insurance providers, pharmaceutical manufactures, hospital organizations, community clinics and government. This report addresses the issues arising from the case study report of Guelph General Hospital. Over the years, the hospital has experienced challenges in the delivery of services to consumers. This is especially due to the expanding numbers of patients that have affected the normal functioning of the hospital system. Starting with the improvement of the emergency department, GGH has focused on the practices that would accommodate the increasing demands for medical services. The lean methodology is one of the implementations that aimed at reducing wastage within the system, in order to create value for the services offered. However, the metric indicate that aspects such as consumer convenience and efficient handling of the patients have been noted. On the other hand, most of the employees are developing resistance towards the new system due to the high level of accountability required. The report therefore looks into the suitable decision that the hospital management should consider.
Based on this case the cost driver is to properly distribute the direct cost among the different divisions. Dr. Julian would like to control her departments costs by having them distributed fairly among the divisions without affecting the hospital’s reimbursement/revenue. Carroll University Hospital is currently using the standard costing unit, which is based on the cost of bed/day for inpatients. Currently the present cost accounting system that is being used at CUH takes the total direct cost of the departments, then allocates the indirect costs and distributes it among the departments evenly regardless of the actual resources being used in those departments, and without considering that there may be some patients in these divisions that may require more resources than others, this method does not seem to recognize the different activities,

Decisions taken within an organization are made by the leadership in light of the company’s culture, principles and policies. Leaders are the role models as they set the tone for the ethical stance of their individual followers, or the group they lead. As an ethical leader, they are expected to take responsibility and work to correct mistakes. They must ensure the company has an effective internal controls in place to identify unethical practices. In my opinion, big companies in their audit and compliance committees should have members who may act as ethicist to assess whether the actions of the company are consistent with the desired ethical

What is Ethical Leadership some may ask. It is leadership that shows through the actions of having respect for ethical beliefs and values, and for the dignity and rights of others. Ethics is associated with the morals and values an individual finds desirable. It is a philosophical term originating from Greek word “ethos” meaning custom or character.

It is also studied that a leader with strong ethical traits can affect positively to task significance and autonomy of the employee job (Ruiz, Ruiz & Martinez, 2011). If I were the staff of Enron Company, there are few ways I would handle the situations. First, staffs need to know how managers of organization frame problems under the influence of the organization to ensure that they can be morally responsible in an organization without getting hurt. The staffs should also understand the method of acting effectively, safely in the organization effectively. In other words, it is crucial for staff to understand the organizational culture of the company. Normally, organizational culture is by owners, high-level executives or person in charge of the organization. If the organization treasures success and productivity more than moral and ethical concepts, staff would likely follow this principle in making decision. Hence, understanding the organizational culture allows us to be aware of such blindly obeying organization action. If something fishy was spotted, there are few ways to disobey the organization.
