Executive Summary

The intention of this study is to adequately identify the successfulness of two fast-food companies: Doppio Zero and Burger King.

To state which of the two companies is more successful than the other, the study will present a descriptive comparison of their Human Capital departments. Not only will this study provide reasons for one company’s success, but also the other company’s reasons for failure.

The opening statement of this study will involve the intricate assessment of the two companies and their backgrounds. This will include where and when the companies started, what are their visions and missions are, what kind of companies are they, who are the top-level managers, how do they operate as fast food restaurants …show more content…

DZ conducts this process in two different manners: Employee of choice (transfer), word of mouth and advertisement online. Requirements for every position, from waitress to head chef, needs to specialize in hospitality. The process is divided into two or three stages, and this is due to the employer’s certainty and depending on what the position is.

Training and Development:

Management and high position training courses occur once a year and lasts four weeks (this may vary). The lower the position, the less time spent in training per year. Eg: a waitress would spend roughly two weeks learning the pay system, known as GAAP, and learn the new menu four times a year (seasonal). The whole induction of the training courses is structured and are held outside the employee’s restaurant. All employees venture to the Sandton franchise to learn parallel to their position with someone who has already undertook the training. Throughout the year, there will be structured assessments and performance reviews, known as Personal Development Plan (PDP) which covers career growth.
