Tanglin Polymer Case Study Introduction The Tanglin Polymers is a huge organization that produces a variety of petroleum-based products used by a wide range of industrial consumers. Tanglin Polymers have over 30 manufacturing plants and refineries. They are located in Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, China Australia, and New Zealand. The CEO, Mr. Patrick Ang created a new position to handle purchasing as the company is facing an increase difficulty in securing raw materials. Chan Kee Tong was hired for that position as the new position as Manager of Resource Procurement. 1. Why do you think so few request were received? Explain your answer. In this case study, few of Chan Kee Tong request were received due to the following reason. Chan Kee Tong is a graduate from UCD MSc and he has several years experience in accounting control system and optimization techniques. Hence, the CEO Mr. Patrick Ang hired him and Chan Kee Tong was given new position as Manager of Resource Procurement. Chan Kee Tong has less experience in the purchasing department. Mr. Patrick Ang has to ensure that Chan Kee Tong is well trained and has good experience before giving him a new position as a manager. Due to not much experience this could be one of the reason why few request were received. Secondly, Chan Kee Tong first decision was to centralize the company purchasing procedures.
