Casey Anthony became a recognized name in 2008 when she failed to report her two year old daughter, Caylee Anthony, missing until a month after she vanished, and then continued to lie throughout the investigation. It wasn’t even Casey who reported Caylee missing. It was Caylee’s grandmother, Cindy. Casey Anthony was born March 19, 1986 in Warren, Ohio. Her parents are Cynthia (Cindy) and George Anthony and she only has one sibling, who is four years older, Lee Anthony. George Anthony used to be a detective in Ohio, who worked on several homicides. This would explain his stoic attitude during the questioning when Caylee was first reported missing.
Casey has had a lying problem since she was in high school. One example is when she was a senior,

She was arrested June 16, 2008 for “suspicion of child neglect, filing false official statements, and obstructing a criminal investigation.” (Library, 2014) After she was arrested many people called in to tell the police what a liar she is. Even her best friend, Amy Huizenga. Casey took Amy and her boyfriend to the airport to travel to Puerto Rico. Later she started forging checks from Amy’s account. It seemed that Casey lacked remorse. A young mother should be acting close to crazy trying to figure out where her daughter is, but even when Casey called from the jail, finding Caylee wasn’t her top priority. She was mostly concerned with getting her boyfriend’s phone number and got mad when Caylee was brought up. Casey Anthony’s arrest was seen as helpful because she wasn’t helping the police get …show more content…
Anyone watching the case had already put a guilty stamp on the young mother, but her defense team still managed to get a not guilty from the jury. It seems the foremost reason why Casey was acquitted is because there was not enough forensic evidence. There wasn’t even a true cause of death determined. The prosecutions core angle was painting Casey as a habitual liar and unfit mother. According to Donald Jones, “Prosecutors spent half of their case depicting Anthony as a liar and a bad mother, but that didn’t prove she killed her daughter.” (Bello & Welch, 2011) This is true. Just because someone is mean does not make them a killer, so just because someone is a liar, does not mean they are a killer. Casey was lucky to have Jose Baez as her lawyer because he managed to put reasonable doubt in the juries’ minds. She is getting sued by the search parties who looked for little Caylee. They say that Casey swore Caylee was alive and wanted help finding her, but it came out the Casey knew that Caylee was dead. Also, Casey can never walk in public without meeting the face of her haters and people who may want to get revenge for the death of Caylee. Everyone should keep in mind that Casey may have been acquitted by the courts, but she will never truly be
Casey Anthony was one of the only things people could talk about in 2008. Casey Anthony blew the news up about the killing of her daughter, the case lasted for about three years before the court finally reached a non- guilty verdict. The media and people all around America continued to speculate on reasons why they thought the verdict should have been guilty. After examining the case, two theories connect to the case. Casey Anthony has allowed me to further explore and examine all the theories so that I could explain the reasoning behind Anthony’s actions.
“I don’t know where she is, and thats the God honest truth.” - Casey Anthony. These are just some of the words Casey lied about to judge Belvin Perry face in the 2008 case. In July of 2008, Caylee Anthony was murdered by her mother. Casey was wrongly acquitted of her charges of First degree murder, Aggregative child abuse, and aggregative man slaughter.
The Casey Anthony case is the trial of Casey Anthony for the death and murder of Caylee Anthony. The two parties in this case are Casey Anthony against the state of Florida. The trial is a criminal case because it is involving a murder of a child. The trial was originally heard in state court. Although Casey Anthony plead not guilty on the first degree murder charge, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child, she was convicted of the misdemeanor which was giving false information to the police and authorities and was given 4 consecutive years of jail time (one year per count) and was fined 1,000$ for each of her four counts (4,000$ in total).
When asking her daughter, Casey, where Caylee was she made many different excuses before finally admitting that she had not seen Caylee in weeks. Police suspected that Casey was responsible for the death of Caylee and after an investigation, Casey was charged
Andrea Yates conviction was a unjust trial at first and later on the conviction changed to a just one. She was convicted for the murders of her children (Chan). She suffered from depression and had tried to commit suicide (Chan). Yates was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison (Chan). This convictions was later over turned and she wasn’t found guilty anymore because, of insanity (Chan).
According to the article, the police officer who interviewed Casey, "noted the unemotional nature of Casey's behavior towards the loss of her child and claimed that she did not give any indication that she was legitimately worried about her child's safety" (Melich, 2008). In October 2008, Casey was found guilty as a first-degree murder.
Casey Anthony “Smell of Death” In the summer of 2008, Casey Anthony daughter Caylee Anthony was last seen on June 16, 2008. No one knows where she was nor did Casey report that her daughter was missing. Time went by with no sign of Caylee reappearing. Casey’s mother called and reported that her granddaughter was missing and that Casey’s car smelled like a dead body had been in there.
Caylee was a sweet innocent little girl who probably was scared and terrified. And, many of you may assume that Casey could have been terrified and was actually innocent. But, she wasn’t, nothing about Casey was innocent.
On July 15, 31 days after two-year-old Caylee's disappearance, Cindy Anthony reported her missing to the Orange County Sheriff's Office (“Casey Anthony Trial Fast Facts”). After questioning Casey, detectives found many holes in Casey’s story. The signed statement she made about Caylee's disappearance was false, Casey’s friends and family had never heard of the babysitter, and detectives later discovered that, there was no nanny (Orlando, John Cloud). As the search for Caylee intensified, Casey Anthony was put under investigation for her actions days before Caylee was reported
She is standing with her hands folded behind her back and chin up. She is telling a story as if she was there and I can see that she is very confident in what she is saying, while also rising question and leaving open ends that is getting the jury to think about what is going on. Casey continues to shake her head when the prosecutor is stating facts that are leading to be against her. The judge is looking around the room and folding his hands. Casey has one of the greatest death glares I have ever seen on her
New Jersey state legislation has passed “Caylee’s Law” in response to the Casey Anthony case. Casey Anthony was acquitted of the murder charges she faced in the death of her daughter. She failed to report her daughter missing until 31 days after her disappearance (Catrocho, 2015). Caylee’s Law states, “a parent, guardian, or other person with legal custody of a child who knowingly fails to report the disappearance of the child to the appropriate law enforcement agency not more than 24 hours after becoming aware of the disappearance shall be guilty of a crime of the fourth degree, where a “child” is a person 13 years of age or younger” (Caylee’s Law of 2011). “Fourth degree crimes are punishable by imprisonment of up to 18 months, a fine of
The defense attorney claimed that Anthony and her father tried to cover up the death. A forensic expert is brought in and testifies that there must have been a decomposing body in Anthony’s car trunk because that was the only plausible explanation for the odor in the car trunk. Casey Anthony did not testify during the whole court process. The jury deliberated for almost eleven hours and their verdict for Anthony was that she was not of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter of a child. She was found guilty of four counts of providing false information to law enforcement.
The prosecution did not prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt; thus, justice was not served for the real victim, Caylee. Although Casey Anthony won in a court of law, she lost in the court of public opinion; thus, being punished by society just as OJ was. The prosecution believed that Casey Anthony chloroformed Caylee leading to her death. Casey then drove around with Caylee’s deceased body in the back of her car for days until it ran out of gas and she left it abandoned on the side of a road. Casey then dumped Caylee’s body in the woods 15 houses from the Anthony home for the duration on the summer until the body was found in December 2008. The prosecution also found evidence that they believe collaborates Casey knew that Caylee was deceased by the fact that Casey got a tattoo just days after Caylee went missing on her shoulder that said “Bella Vita” which means “Beautiful Life” in Italian on July 2nd, 2008.
On May 25, 2010 Casey Anthony 's lawyer states to the court and jury that Caylee was unintentionally drowned in the swimming pool of their home , and that Casey and her father had cover it up. The prosecution presented that Casey Anthony did research on chloroform at her home computer but her mother Cindy Anthony 's asserted that it was her that made the searches that implicated her daughter but the records showed that Cindy Anthony was at work when these searches were done. On July 5, the jury found Casey not guilty of first degree murder but she was found guilty on four misdemeanors because she provided false material to a law enforcement officers.
