Casey Anthony had a substantial amount of circumstantial evidence, but was able to walk away as a free woman. Casey contradicted her testimony throughout the trial of the murder of her two year old daughter, Caylee Anthony. Although there was enough evidence to point the finger and call her the perpetrator, there was not nearly enough evidence to put Casey behind bars. In law, it is very black and white, DNA has to match with the offender exactly or you have no case. On July 15, 2008, the police department in Orlando, Florida received a call from a woman named Cindy Anthony, she claimed that her daughter …show more content…
When the news channels heard about this traggic incident they began to blast society. This raised many questions within the community, where is the mother, and where is Caylee Anthony? Later that day Cindy went searching for her car and found out that it had been abandoned in a parking lot, and had been towed. When Cindy received her car back, she called the police again, and stated "There's something wrong. I found my daughter's car today, and it smells like there has been a dead body in the car,"(Casey). After Cindy Anthony made this statement, people started to blame the absence of Caylee on her mother, Casey. Eventually, getting a hold of Casey Anthony, She admits to the police department that Caylee has been missing for 31 days, because she was kidnapped by her nanny, Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez. After hearing this calamitous news the police department starts tracking down who this woman is, and where she lives. Furthermore, investigators call family and friends to see if they have ever remotely heard of “Zanny the nanny”(Casey). Quickly it was shown that Casey had been lying, because none of her relatives or peers had heard of such a person. Now that the tables are starting to turn …show more content…
Casey Anthonys defense attorney, Jose Baez starts off his opening argument by pointing the finger at Caseys father, George Anthony. He states that George sexually molested Casey as she was growing up in his home. Then, he tells the room full of anxious ears, that Casey did not kill her daughter, her daughter drowned in the pool on July 16, 2008. Shortly after, Jose tells the jury that George helped Casey cover up the accident by hiding her in the woods. Immediately, George goes up in front of the judge, puts his right hand over the bible, and promises that is a false alibi. George says "If I would have known something happened to Caylee, I wouldn't be here
A second crime scene was Casey Anthony’s car. The theory that investigators had was that Casey Anthony stored her daughter in the trunk of her car after subduing her with chloroform. It was not determined how long Caylee was stored in the trunk. It was known that Cynthia Anthony originally stated during one of the multiple 9-1-1 calls she made, “I found my daughter’s car today and it smelled like there’s been a dead body in the damn car.” (5).
The story of Casey Anthony was more than odd. According to USA Today, Caylee Anthony went missing on July 15, 2008.In December of 2008, Caylee’s body was discovered in the woods near the Anthony household ( Boweman). Grandmother, Cynthia Anthony, had dialed 911 the day Caylee went missing to notify police that Casey Anthony had kidnapped the two-year-old; along with stealing a car and money. Though, it had been an odd phone call because once the car had been returned Cynthia had re-called the police saying “My daughter’s car trunk smells like there has been a dead body in it”. This is strange considering the articles of evidence found in the trunk.
On July 13, 2008 the parents of Casey Anthony George and Cindy received a notice stating that their daughter's car was in a tow yard. When the went to go pick up the van they noticed casey's purse, and their granddaughter Caylee's toys and carseat still in the vicheal. George also noticed a strong smell coming from the trunk, which caused them to get concerned. They finally found Casey at her boyfriend's house and questioned the whereabouts of her daughter. Casey broke down and said that she left Caylee with her nanny Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez in Orlando and that Gonzalez had zidnapped her on June 16th.
Casey Anthony was acquitted of her daughter’s death in July 2011 and maintains her innocence to this day. However, she did serve time for providing false information to a law enforcement officer during her daughter’s investigation. According to Mary Bowerman’s March 2017 article, “Casey Anthony Probably Killed Her Daughter, But by Accident, Judge Says,” retired Judge Perry, who presided over the case, believes Casey may have accidentally killed her daughter.
Caylee Anthony, a young two-year-old girl, of Orlando, Florida was last reported seen on June 16, 2008. Her grandmother, Cindy Anthony, reported her missing on July 15, 2008. This was almost a month after she was last seen. Caylee Anthony lived with her grandparents, George and Cindy Anthony, along with her mother, Casey Anthony. Cindy became suspicious of the whereabouts of her granddaughter after not seeing her for almost a month and her mother’s car having a strong odor of dead body.
There have never really been answers about what happened with Casey Anthony when her daughter went missing. A new book is now out about Anthony that was written by Dominic Casey, a private eye the family hired. This new book tells a lot about the case from what he found while investigating Casey Anthony and trying to figure out what happened to her daughter Caylee. Radar Online shared what this new book will reveal. This book actually claims that Casey Anthony drove around with her daughter in the car for five days before getting rid of the body.
Casey Anthony “Smell of Death” In the summer of 2008, Casey Anthony daughter Caylee Anthony was last seen on June 16, 2008. No one knows where she was nor did Casey report that her daughter was missing. Time went by with no sign of Caylee reappearing. Casey’s mother called and reported that her granddaughter was missing and that Casey’s car smelled like a dead body had been in there.
Americans became fascinated by Casey Anthony when she became a household name following the disappearance of her daughter. After being raised in Ohio, Anthony was later charged with the murder of her daughter Caylee following their move to Florida. Anthony’s trial quickly became public, and shocked the nation after she was acquitted of all murder charges. The majority of America assumed Anthony was guilty, but without substantial evidence, the jury lacked the confirmation they needed to lock her up for good. The question remains today, how did Caylee Anthony die?
Nine years ago, of the little girls in which was killed was two year old, Caylee. And her main suspected killer was able to walk following two and a half years later. Caylee Anthony was the daughter of Casey Anthony, age nineteen when born, and with a father who was both unknown to the court
The defense attorney claimed that Anthony and her father tried to cover up the death. A forensic expert is brought in and testifies that there must have been a decomposing body in Anthony’s car trunk because that was the only plausible explanation for the odor in the car trunk. Casey Anthony did not testify during the whole court process. The jury deliberated for almost eleven hours and their verdict for Anthony was that she was not of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter of a child. She was found guilty of four counts of providing false information to law enforcement.
She then said that her daughter had been kidnapped by the nanny and she was trying to find her before she alerted the authorities. Now I don’t believe any mother would be that reluctant to tell their own mother, let alone the police, that their own daughter had not been seen for weeks. This is one of the main reasons that I believe she did kill her daughter or was in some way involved in the death of Caylee Anthony. The skeleton of the child was then found near the family’s house 5 months after she was reported missing. What are the odds of the body being that close to the house and no one having any clue for months on end?
Case Gone Wrong: Anthony vs State of Florida Case No. 5D11-2357 If ever there was a botched case it was this one with inconsistencies on the part of the State being overwhelming. I watched this trial intently and read everything available.
A lot.) There are many different sources of evidence leading towards different victims who could've committed the crime but in all there is only on killer. Amanda Knox is not guilty but, there is DNA proof that
She called Amy and asked where Casey was and Amy told her she was at Tony Lazzaro’s, Casey’s boyfriend where Cindy found Casey. Cindy asked repeatedly where Caylee was and that she wanted to see her. Casey’s replied over and over that she’s with the nanny. Cindy finally told Casey that she was calling the police. Casey then started to cry and told her family that Caylee had been kidnapped by Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, the nanny, and Casey was searching for her daughter on her own, and had been for the last 31 days.
In this case the only obstacle the prosecutors had was prove that Caylee Anthony was murdered by her own mother, they had to prove beyond reasonable doubt to the jury that she was behind her daughter’s death. Most of the evidence that was presented was in fact pointed to Casey Anthony as the person who was fully liable for her daughter
