CHAPTER 2
LITERATURE REVIEW
2.0 Introduction
This chapter will discuss the topic that related to the research and has similar point of view as compared to other literature review. This chapter also will elaborate the idea and concepts about the research. By analyzing this literature review, it will make the development process easy to conduct.
2.1 Fish 2.1.1 Catfish
Catfish or known as Siluriformes is a diverse group of ray-finned fish. Named for their noticeable barbels(slender, whisker like sensory organ near the mouth), which resemble as cat’s whiskers. Catfish range in size and behavior from the heaviest and longest.

Catfish is of commercial importance because many of the larger species are farmed or fished for food. 2.1.2 Goldfish
Goldfish or known as Carassius auratus is a freshwater fish in the family Cyprinidae(large family of freshwater fishes) of order Cypriniformes(an order of ray-finned fish). It was one of the earliest fish to be domesticated and one of the most commonly kept aquarium fish.
There are several types of goldfish; i) buble eyes, ii) pompom, iii) lionhead, iv) oranda, v) telescope eyes. Goldfish breeds is vary in size, body shape, fin configuration and coloration (various combinations of white, yellow, orange, red, brown and black are known). 2.2 Fish Diseases 2.2.1 Fin Rot Hargrove & Hargrove (2011) was stated in his research about fin rot disease; Symptoms: Reddened or inflamed rays; torn, choppy, ragged, or disintegrated fins. Cause: Fin rot is highly contagious bacterial infection that can completely erode the fin and tail all the way down to the body. Bad water quality and fin injuries are usually the main causes of this
Fishing is a something that takes a lot of patience, practice, and knowledge to be good at it. These factors make it a very challenging sport or recreation. Bass fishing in particular is one that takes the most of of patience, practice, and knowledge. In the world of bass fishing it can be very complex because there are things that have to be done like choosing the right kind of bait, locating where the bass are, and understanding the competitive sport of bass fishing.
The experiment consisted of two sub-experiments that when synthesized together, successfully answered our main question. The first of the two sub-experiments focused on collecting data for the creation of a life table in which Daphnia magna were not in the presence of a predator such as Lepomis macrochirus, known in laymen’s terms as bluegill fish. The second of the two sub-experiments focused on collecting data for the creation of a life table as well, but this time the daphnia were subjected to an environment where bluegill fish were present. The collection of the data for the creation of the first lifetable without predation consisted of fourteen replicates or daphnia starting at age 3 and ending at varying ages depending on the mortality of each replicate group.
The stickleback fish have gained much attention from evolutionary biologists because of their historic ability to adapt to conditions that were not favorable and to survive successfully in them. They are also able to give researchers insight into how evolution occurs in other organisms. The stickleback normally spawns in freshwater but lives in the salt-water ocean. Long ago when ice melted and receded, the fish were given new possible places to inhabit and they did, expanding their spawning locations to newly formed streams. Eventually, though, the streams were cut off from the sea and the once salt-water sticklebacks were faced with the problem of being stuck in freshwater with no way to get out.1
They have no natural predators in Alberta and will out-compete native species for resources (http://esrd.alberta.ca/recreation-public-use/invasive-species/fish.aspx).” Goldfish are a specific type of carp that was bred to be the bright orange color that it is 1000s of years ago in China to be used as display for their bright colors (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prussian_carp). Although they are related to carp species that are non-invasive, these goldfish being released threatens the stabilization of the many Canadian rivers and lakes. If the authorities aren’t able to stop the flourishing invasion of the friendly orange goldfish, they could be looking at a depletion of resources vast enough to cause harm t o the native animal and plant
The Native Americans of the North West Coast region adapted to their environment with the uses of fish, trees, and animal hides. The Native Americans of the North West Coast used fish as their main food resource. They made their house close to beaches and bays because it was faster to capture the fish. Fish was used more than any other food source Because it’s easier than any other food.
Every fisherman out there would like more tips for bass fishing . Catching a huge bass can be one of the most rewarding experiences you will ever have. But Bass can be a bit finicky and difficult to catch at times. And using the wrong techniques will only ensure an empty stringer. The following quick tips for bass fishing should help you put more fish in the boat and give you the confidence you need to get out there and fish.
Finding Fish is a memoir written by Antwone Quenton Fisher in 2001. Fisher is an American director, screenwriter, author and film producer born on August 3, 1959, in a Cleveland, Ohio prison. Fish’s autobiographical book, Finding Fish, was briefly a New York Times Best Seller. Fish wrote Finding Fish to inform people of his own unfortunate, abusive childhood, but also how he was able to make a life for himself later on in life. He also wrote Finding Fish to give troubled children hope that no matter what, life will get better, if you make the change happen.
An invasive species is defined as a species that isn’t native to a country and has negative effects on our economy, environment, or health. The species I am researching is the Asian carp. Its scientific name is Cyprinous Capario. The Asian carp live in many different areas around the United States, such as the Great Lakes area and the Mississippi River. Lake Michigan is home to very diverse populations and species.
Crayfish Response In this experiment the researchers were investigating the limited range of the crayfish species Orconectes saxatilis in the upper part of the Kiamichi River. The dispersal of the crayfish species O. saxatilis and two sympatric crayfish species throughout the upper part of the Kiamichi River were examined. The type of habitat that the crayfish favor for use was also examined along with their historical characteristics. Crayfish species with small habitats are in major need of conservation but little information is known about species-specific habitats.
If the fish are not healthy, that can adversely affect people. People could eat contaminated fish, or people cannot sell the fish because they are contaminated. Some fish may die from the pollution, leading to less fish for catching. Lower populations of fish and other marine life can also cause an imbalance in the food chain. Predators can also be harmed
The Basics of Bass Fishing and Lures for Beginners The whole idea of fishing can be quite daunting for a novice so make sure you do your research before setting out on your first fishing trip. People who have never been fishing before, but who feel like they know everything there is to know about fishing, usually don’t, so take my advice and have a read through this article to help you grasp the concept of what is known as fishing for bass. Bass come in all shapes and sizes but the most well known and most fished bass is the North American largemouth bass. In the summer months, these kings of the seas can reach staggering sizes and are a spectacular fish to bring home and put on your dinner table. As mentioned previously in other posts and
Information and communication technology has seen lot of changes and advancements since the year 2000, key among them being the development of social media as a social influencer. It has become prominent parts of life for many young people today. We are all aware that social media has had a tremendous impact on our culture, in business, on the world-at-large and social media websites are some of the most popular haunts on the internet. Most people engage with social media without stopping to think what the effects are on our lives, whether positive or negative. Are we as society becoming more concerned with Facebook “friends” than we are with the people we interact with face-to-face in our daily lives?
2.0 Review related to study “The review of related studies and researches is a necessary part of any research. The related studies on the chosen topic carried out by research workers at various levels are called review of related literature” (Perumal, 2010). It is a significant phase in research process and basic part of any research work. It is works as a guide which contains recent knowledge as well as applicable findings along with theoretical and methodological contribution to a particular topic. Literature review use as secondary source of the data.
Within the first group, Haplochrominae, there are two subgroups. Both subgroups require different environments which is something that you should consider when setting up the tank. The first one, known as Haps, consists of open water and sand dwelling species. The second subgroup is known as mbuna, which means “rockdwellers”. The Mbuna fish are smaller, and both sexes are often brightly colored, though in some species the females may be brownish overall.
Marine pollution such as presence of organic matter in the ocean can result in the condition known as hypoxia or oxygen depletion and this can have adverse effect on the marine life including plant and animals and fish. Death of these fish can result in loss of millions of US dollars that are generate from the fishing industry. Marine pollution can also result in presence of foul smell resulting from the decomposing sewage being directed to the ocean and this has the effects to hinder recreational activities taking place in the sea as well as cause discomfort and breathing problem to the surrounding population (Laura, 11).marine pollution can also result in danger to human health. The human swimmers and water sport lovers can become endangered by swimming in the polluted marine waters (Laura,
