By detailing another story of her own, she stayed the night at her godparents and complained about how vastly different her and her godparents hunger were. In the story, Fisher was eighteen years old and her godparents were quite old and fragile. On Fisher's way to the Godparents home, she recalled about her hunger and how strong it was, “I can still remember my almost insane desperation… [I] was literally concave with solitude and hunger… by the time I reached my godparents home I was almost light headed.” (Fisher). Due to Fisher being at such a young age, their need for food only ravaged their mind as she continued to grow and sprout through puberty. When she not fed, Fisher felt as if she were concave from their empty stomach.
Frankie couldn’t find any doctors to help her get back on her feet, so she would lie in bed all day. As a result of this, her limbs died and had to be cut off. In effect, her mental and emotional state worsened. Frankie blamed himself for allowing Maggie to push herself beyond her limit and to paralysis. In the story “George” by Alex Gino George is unhappy because she is lonely, she needs to be herself in secret and, cannot show her true identity and all of this is just because she is transgender. I agree he should be let out, he did it out of love. The daughter was starving, and Jim couldn’t do anything because he was to broke. Jim would be woke in the middle of the night and then begged for food by his daughter.“She waked up in the middle of the night again and said she was hungry.”(30) The poor girl couldn 't sleep all night because her stomach was too empty.
