Climate change, usually referred to as global warming refers to changes in average surface temperatures on earth. Scientifically climate change is due to the human use of fossil fuels, which releases carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the air. The gases trap heat within the atmosphere which have a range of effects on ecosystems, including rising sea levels, severe weather events, and droughts that render landscapes more susceptible to wildfires.
Climate change is now affecting every community on every continent, it is disrupting national economies and affecting lives, costing people, communities and countries on a daily basis. People are experiencing the significant impact of climate change which includes changing weather patterns, rising sea level, and more extreme weather events. The greenhouse gas emissions from human activities are driving climate change and continue to rise. They are now at their highest levels in history. Without action the worlds average surface temperature is projected to rise over the 21st century. Some areas of the world are expected to warm even more. The poorest and most vulnerable people are being affected the most.
Most climate scientists agree the main cause of the current global warming is human expansion of greenhouse effect. Certain gases in the atmosphere block heat from escaping long lived gases that remains semi-permanently in the atmosphere and do not respond physically or chemically to changes in temperature are described
