In this paper many will understand the concepts and the role of a stop and frisks. It will allow the readers to see the good and perhaps the bad of stop and frisk process. The research will also allow the readers to see how law enforcement can abuse power of authority in certain situation. Stop and frisk can be good and evil depending on the type of police officer at the time using his or her belief of the “Golden Rule” (meaning treating others with respect as everyone wants to be treated.) Terry v. Ohio, 392 U.S. 1 (1968), was a decision by the United States Supreme Court which held that the Fourth Amendment prohibition on unreasonable searches and seizures is not violated when a police officer stops a suspect on the street and frisks him or her without probable cause to arrest, if the police officer has a reasonable suspicion that the person has committed, is committing, or is about to commit a crime and has a reasonable belief that the person "may be armed and presently dangerous. October 31, 1963, while on a downtown beat which he had been patrolling for many years, Cleveland Police Department Detective Martin McFadden, age 62, saw two men, John W. Stop and Frisk can be a very slippery slope for anyone to process the idea of someone committing a crime from observation. Sometime people can look like they are committing a crime. However, “who’s to say that the person isn’t mentally ill or playing a prank”. Somehow, we don’t know for sure but on the other hand maybe we should question the person that looks suspicious.
