After the ending of the World War II, that’s when the Cold war started to begin. The Cold War affected the politics and also society of the United States by making it physically stronger and they wanted to have their own sense of power and also wanted control over everything. All the presidents during the Cold War were given an enemy. These enemy’s that were given to the presidents were someone whom could allow them some sort of control in which they wanted in the first place. The Second Red Scare was led by Joseph McCarthy whom is a American senator and it began in the 1950’s and this was caused because of the Cold War. The Second Red Scare was also after World War II was ending. The Second Red Scare was known as the “fear–driven movement” in which spread all across the United States of America. Basically the Second Red Scare was when the Americans started to fear communism. One main reason for this is because of the rise of the communist in China. Joseph McCarthy started accusing everyone of being communist. “New Dealers committed to feminism, racial equality, and the end of economic exploitation; how fellow travelers became virulent cold warriors; and the trauma the Second Red Scare inflicted upon upstanding American families.” This quote depicts how important the Second Red Scare was back in the 1950’s. It all started with the United States and the Soviet Union both had different values. The United States represented capitalism and also democracy while the Soviet Union was communist and authoritarian. With the United States and the Soviet Union being two totally different this became a huge conflict between the two and was also global. The cold war was very different from all well most of the other wars that occurred. Even though the Cold war differed from the other wars, none of the other wars had an impact on American society and foreign policy and etc such as the Cold War had.
