Monsoons rains from the month of June to Septembers in every year feed the Brahmaputra and the Barak along with other adjacent river due to excessive water. The cyclonic pressure in the Bay of Bengal is responsible for floods in Assam. Flood in Assam cause huge destruction and irreparable loss to the state 's economy. Most of the damage is caused in the rural areas leaving the people poorer and starving. In 1954 nearly half of Dibrugarh town was washed away by the flood. The earthquake of 1950 caused changes in land in the Brahmaputra valley and also changes in the normal cloodourse of the Brahmaputra rivers. Excessive loads of sediment carried by the river due to earthquake. Another main reason of child trafficking is Assam is severely affected by natural calamities like erosion for which large scale migration took place to metros. An estimated around 3,86,476 hectares of agricultural land in Assam has been lost due to erosion of river estimated around 7 per cent of such land in some districts of Assam.

Due to disasters, the people of the affected areas have been walkout in search of alternative livelihood option. It has been observed that from Assam large scale migration of the local population to the comparatively richer parts of the country. The growing need for better livelihood options and employment has turned Assam into a fertile place for human traffickers and in the past few years,
