Why Do People Commit Suicide

In today’s society, illness of the mind is emerging as a major issue as a disease of the body. Especially, stress and depression are becoming serious problems in these days. Over 90 percent of people who die by suicide have a mental illness at the time of their death.(Caruso). The most common mental illness is depression. (Caruso). People should recognize about the causes of suicide to prevent it. (People need to recognize about the reason why committing suicide has been increased to prevent it.) Anyone who is suicidal (attempt or commit suicide) must be persuaded not to commit suicide. However, some argue that each person has a freedom to die. (Everyone has their own right to do whatever they want to do, then say so that they also have freedom to die. ) Although there are some reason in this argument, it is also true that people must take their responsibilities if they do their freedom.…show more content…
People can be physically damaged or killed by a suicidal behavior of a person. A man in his 40s was killed after a suicidal jumper landed on him on Tuesday (why did you put the day? It is not necessary. Even though you cited from the article...or whatever haha)(Lee). This is a real tragedy in that one person’s suicidal behavior accidentally took a life of an innocent man. Furthermore, people who witnessed a suicide scene can be immensely shocked psychologically. In the worst case, it can be a lifelong trauma to the witness. For example, in the aforementioned incident, witnesses were the killed man’s(->well, you already mentioned about the guy, so you can just say “his”. But you don’t have to.) wife who is even pregnant and has a six-year-old son. Needless to say, suicide gives an indelible hurt and a great sadness to the family of person who commits suicide.
