Causes of Lack of Sleep

Do you know how many people around you have a problem of lack of sleep? Research shows that per person needs six to eight hours of daily sleep. However, in Taiwan, the average of sleep hour is only six point eight hours per night. It can be seen that lack of sleep is a common problem of Taiwanese. Although most people have such a problem, there are different causes that lead to people lack sleep, especially lifestyle and habits, the state of body and mind, and the different roles and challenges in different ages.

I divided the age into three major stages. The first stage is the studying process. School work is the focus of junior and senior high school students’ lives. In order to get good grades, and go into an ideal school, many students go to cram schools for numerous hour tutorial classes after school. Moreover, due to too much homework, they often need to stay up late to complete them. As a result, their sleep time is compressed, and leads to lack of sleep. Research shows that there are seventy percent of junior and senior high school students sleep less than six hours. It can be said that the problem of lack of sleep of students is quite general. The second stage is the college life. Getting rid of relatively heavy school work, a great group of college students puts emphasis on the brilliant nightlife and school clubs. At midnight, there are often a lot of students go to bars or nightclubs to have a wild party. Besides, there are also some club fanatics who usually stay at school overnight in order to participate in various activities. However, staying up late becomes the norm of college students. Therefore, lack of sleep is a common problem for them, and even cause them to skip classes. The third stage is the member of society.
