Longevity is a term that we always heard. We all want to live longer and keep exploring the method to do so. Recently, an interesting news is mentioned: Hong Kong has passed Japan and become the place with the highest life expectancy in the world. However, Hong Kong is a small city, the busy and fast-paced lifestyle keep putting stresses on people’s daily basis. Apart from that, Hong Kong has 7 million population and the housing supplies are far from desired. People are not having enough space and so not living well. All of those factors make Hong Kong people seem impossible to live long; so what causes Hong Kong has the highest lifespan? Plants can not only improve the air quality, but also provide comfort. We all like to place some plants at home for decoration because of its elegance and fascination. However, it can also make us feel calm and peace, which gives us mental enjoyment, and can help on increasing the life expectancy. According to Chelsea Harrey, an editor of Washington Post, people who live in green environment will have a lower risk of mortality. They usually gain benefits from greenery as improved mental health, social engagement and physical activity that can came with living near green spaces. Moreover, a study done by Harvard shows that living in or near green spaces can be a boon of longevity, also seeing more greenery may also boost mental health. ‘‘Woman living in the greenest area, as measured by satellite, were 34 percent less likely to die from a respiratory illness than woman living in the most paved-over areas.
