As claimed by Gardner (1992, p. 83) “Gangs came into existence and flourish because the needs of the young people in a neighbourhood or culture or family are not being met. The Gang, in essence, fills the void.” In today’s society there are a variety of different types of gangs which have affected the society on different ways. Street gangs, according to Klein (as cited in Carlie, 2002) are a “semi structured groups of adolescents and young adults who engage in felonious and criminal behavior.” This kind of Gang is very popular in the United States and is responsible for illegal selling of drugs and also turf wars which have heightened murder rates in many cities and communities.
Juvenile delinquents diagnosed with mental/conduct disorders Juvenile delinquents are often diagnosed different disorders. Around six to sixteen percent of male teens and two to nine percent of female teens have a conduct disorder. These can vary from oppositional-defiant disorder, which is not necessarily aggressive, to antisocial personality disorder, often diagnosed among psychopaths. A conduct disorder can develop during childhood and then manifest itself during adolescence.
Juvenile crime is not naturally born in the boy, but is largely due either to the spirit of adventure that is in him, to his own stupidity, or to his lack of discipline, according to the nature of the individual. -Robert Baden Powell Combating crime is a major social issue confronting every country in the modern world. Reforming criminals into lawabiding citizens is important for the survival of a civilization and the advancement of a society.
What are juvenile delinquents? Juvenile delinquents are basically teen criminals. In other words, they are young kids that commit crimes that defers from the normal criminal justice system. These young delinquents have different punishments then adults do in the criminal justice system. the criminal justice system is different from children than adults mainly to prevent juveniles from committing more of deviance and to give them a chance to turn their life around.
We all heard the saying home is where your heart is, many people live representing where they are from. It shows a persons pride, strength, how they were raised, and who they are as a person. But does the area where you live have something to do with wether or not you 'll be apart of criminal justice system. We all think like that when you hear a person is from Westfield you may think they live in a big house and their family may be a little wealth. If you hear someone if from Newark you may get the perspection that the person come from a bad neighborhood, one parent might not be in the picture, or they maybe involve in gang activity.
1. INTRODUCTION As members in today’s information rich society, we are continually being pounded with the ferocious and ruthless actions that human beings are capable of. As society walks through these fragments of reality, it is cemented by the thoughts of what causes individuals to commit such appalling acts. Biological theories of crime, such as the positivism paradigm, sought to determine a biological deficiency within individuals that caused susceptibility towards criminal behaviour.
One sociological explanation of crime is that those who engage in crime were raised and shown crime in early ages of their life. The three sources of Robert Agnew's Strain Theory would be: The inability to achieve positively valued goals The removal of the threat to remove positively valued stimuli
There has always been a curiosity of what causes an individual to become a criminal. Determining what the cause of criminality is, is still not clear. There is still a debate if crime is caused biologically, socially, or environmentally. I would like to start my argument with that criminal behavior is not biologically determined. For criminal behavior to be biologically determined the person would have to have a mental illness that causes them to commit violent crimes.
A child is born with purity and innocence. Nurturing child is a crucial in every child’s life and if given proper care and attention in right way after that child grows in constructive manner. Children show good performance when children’s surrounding environment is positive and supportive towards them. Child’s physical, psychological, moral and spiritual development builds them competent of become conscious to understand their capabilities. On the other side, detrimental environment, lack of basic needs, poor parenting supervision, other factors may turn a child to a delinquent i.e.a juvenile delinquent.
The ideal room for a teenager is one that has walls cluttered with posters or quotes of famous men and women. Every morning a teen wakes up and is surrounded by images of those that he or she admires and goes to sleep with the idol like figures watching over him or her. Everyone has a role model that they look up to whether it be a friend, a colleague, a stranger, or a super star. One cannot help but look at the life of another and attempt to model one’s own life after the other. Following someone else is how humans have survived, one sees what works and begins to do the same.
