Part A: Problem Definition Background Information In these years, Hong Kong having has experienced many social problems include “Incident of 928”, “Occupy Central with Love and Peace” , “Hong Kong-Mainland Conflict" and “Umbrella Movement”. All these events showed the governance of Hong Kong government cannot ingratiate the demands of Hong Kong citizens. Therefore, citizens dissatisfied with the governance and joined the protests. Hong Kong citizens become more and more active in concerning the Hong Kong political affair. However, this cohesion led to the social instability in Hong Kong and becoming the hindering of the governance of Hong Kong government. Moreover, in terms of discipline of sociology, social psychology is the important factors that affect social cohesion. And social cohesion is based on individual, group, organization, and social characteristics on the basis of countries. Social cohesion is the main factor that hindering social order. As the governance of Hong Kong government was flawed and Hong Kong citizens did not satisfy with them. Hong Kong government should commence improve the governance in order to save the social cohesion, gain confidence of Hong Kong citizens and improve their quality of life. Quality of life Quality of life is an index which based on data collected by surveys conducted by the government. Also, it aimed to analysis the general life satisfaction of local citizens. These indicators are stress index, press freedom index, government index and the index of current economic conditions. According to Professor Fong Chi-hang, National People’s Congress have already decided “2017 Hong Kong chief executive election” will be change from a true universal suffrage to a fake universal suffrage. Hong Kong people should be? united and show their commitment to against the “fake election”. Also, according to Hong Kong Economic Times (HKET), citizens thought chief executive’s integrity is more important than money that proves the governance is the main factor that hindering the social cohesion in Hong Kong. Certainly, the governance of Hong Kong is directly affected by the chief executive. According to an analyses report, the head of the Department of Politics and Public Administration of HKU, Chen Ju-wei said citizens keep strongly required for “True Universal Suffrage”.
