On the morning of April 10, 2017, just before 10:30am, a school in San Bernardino, California was shot up by a lone gunman. He shot his wife, who was a special education teacher at the elementary school, which killed her. He also shot 2 children, killing one and wounding another. This is the second shooting in San Bernardino in the past 3 years. The first one was back in December 2015, which was a terrorist attack at the Ireland Regional Center, with approximately ;16 deaths. Cedric Anderson, a 53 year old man, opened fire on his wife’s special needs classroom, killing his wife and wounding 2 children, one of the wounded died. Some believe that Cedric did not plan on killing himself. Before the shooting, Cedric left a note saying how he had felt “disrespected” and needed closure. One of them, 8-year-old Jonathan Martinez, was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The other injured student, who is 9 years old, is said to be in stable condition. Anderson has had a history of run-ins with police. He’d been arrested 4 times from 1982-2013. He had a past of domestic violence and weapons. Some are also questioning a past of drug charges. “‘He was a wolf in sheep's clothing," Sykes, Smith’s mother, told us. Karen Smith, who had married Cedric Anderson, had known him for years and thought he had put his past of domestic violence behind him. But, after they moved to their Riverside home, a part of Anderson that Smith had never seen emerged, and it was only time before her demise. Sadly, Cedric and Karen died.
