For decades, there has been tension between Native American fishermen and non-native fishermen over the fishing rights on Mille Lacs Lake. This tension has increased, particularly because of the sustainability and quality of Mille Lacs Lake, and the Supreme Court’s ruling in Minnesota against Mille Lacs Band of Chippewa Indians. The Court claimed that the Chippewa Indians retained their rights to hunt and fish on ceded lands as established by the 1837 Treaty of St. Peters. Usufruct rights are rights of enjoyment to another’s property allowing the holder to generate income from the property without obtaining ownership. This right to hunt and fish on ceded lands is further protected from state regulation by the 1837 Treaty of St. Peters.

“3 Reasons College Still Matters” by Andrew Delbanco 3) “Surely, every American college ought to defend this waning possibility, whatever we call it. And an American college is only true to itself when it opens its doors to all - the rich, the middle, and the poor - who have the capacity to embrace the precious chance to think and reflect before life engulfs them. If we are all serious about democracy, that means everyone.” 4) In this part of the writing Andrew Delbanco tries to persuade his audience by using the pattern of logic that agrees with the overall argument but also considers another striking point of view to strengthen the argument (While these arguments are convincing, they must also consider…).
Darkness engulfs the surrounding earth except the lake’s surface and porch floor. A large glass tabletop is bound together by a cold metal edge. Five outdoor metal chairs, each equipped with a cushion stare blankly off into the crisp autumn’s midnight air.
Learning about yourself is the most important thing, everybody needs to learn. That 's one thing I 'm proud of saying. I 'm learning with my mistakes. Making mistakes is much better than getting right in the first time, because with your own mistake you can evaluate what you did, and retry, so now you can get it right, but you also know how to do it now. If you got it right for the first time, you had luck, and didn 't learn nothing.
They are those who believe a community college is not the best place to receive a higher education. The belief is that community colleges cannot provide the same level of education as most four year colleges. People who support this belief say that a two year college is too easy and would not make a student become competitive in the job market. At most, four year colleges the first two years are design for the student to take prerequisites that could be attain at a community college and help the student decide which direction or to career path to take.
When I was in high school, my grade-point average was a measly 2.3. I did poorly on my SAT scores, so my only option was to apply to a community college. I was thankful to be admitted to Ohlone College, as my grade point average is now a 3.4. In retrospect, I realized that my success in community college was because of: hard work, dedication, and continuous growth. Freshmen year of college, I took a psychology class.
College is a big decision in one’s life, especially as a senior in high school. Students are expected to go to college to gain further knowledge in the career path they have chosen. Amanda Baratz, for example, is a freshman at Kehillah Jewish High School in San Jose, California. The summer after her freshman year, she will fly to Georgetown University for a five week course about medical careers. She hopes to see an open heart surgery while she is there.
I graduated back in 2013 from a pretty decent school district. During high school I wasn’t an A student or a B student, I just did what I needed in order to pass. Once I got to my junior of high school I started taking things more seriously, I started making A’s and B’s. Once my senior year started the pressure was on. Everyone asking “what college are you thinking about attending?”
