CFD ANALYSIS OF DOUBLE PIPE HEAT EXCHANGER AND SIMULATION
This chapter deals with the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of the hydrodynamics and thermal behavior of the turbulent flow through a 2 pass Double pipe heat exchanger using ANSYS FLUENT 14.0 software.
5.1 Geometry and Modeling
5.1.1 Specifications of Geometry and Boundary conditions
The analysis is performed on a double pipe heat exchanger with the inner diameter of inner pipe is 0.019 m & outer diameter of inner pipe is 0.025 m, similarly for annulus pipe, the inner diameter of outer pipe is 0.05 m & outer diameter of outer pipe is 0.056 m and the total length of heat exchanger is 2.36 m (2-pass). 5.3 Scaling (Grid Independence) Test
Grid convergence is the term used to describe the improvement of results by using successively smaller cell sizes for the calculations. A calculation should approach the correct answer as the mesh becomes finer, hence the term grid convergence. The normal CFD technique is to start with a coarse mesh and gradually refine it until the changes observed in the results are smaller than a pre-defined acceptable error. There are two problems with this approach. Firstly, it can be quite difficult with other CFD software to obtain even a single coarse mesh result for some problems. Secondarily refining a mesh by a factor 2 can lead to an 8 fold increase in problem size so even more time is needed. This is clearly unacceptable for a piece of software intended to be used as an engineering design tool operating to tight production deadlines. The thermo physical properties of Fe3O4 nanofluids such as density (ρ), specific heat (Cp), thermal conductivity (k) and viscosity (μ) are estimated using following empirical correlations developed to determine for density Pak and Cho [], for effective thermal conductivity Hamilton-Crosser relation, for viscosity Brinkman model [] and for Specific heat Xuan and Roetzel equations were used. The particle size of the Fe3O4 nanoparticles is considered as 50 nm. The properties of nanofluid are given in Table 5.3 at 27 °C temperature and 100 kPa pressure. ρ_nf=(1-ϕ) ρ_bf+ϕρ_p (5.1)

While the solution dissolved, 50 mL of distilled water was added to a 150 mL beaker and heated on the hot plate. When the solution started to boil 2.65 grams of Na2SiO3*5H2O was added to the beaker with a stir bar and heated to a gentle boil. When both solutions began to boil, the sodium silicate solution was slowly added to the sodium aluminate. The solution was kept at 900C for 60 minutes and stirred with stir bar. After 60 minutes, the zeolite solution was cooled for 5 minutes and for the magnetized zeolite , 0.78 grams of FeCl3 and 0.39 grams of FeSO4*7H2O was added to the flask and stirred until the iron parts dissolved.

High-Frequency Jet Ventilation The essence of high-frequency jet ventilation utilizes the concept of delivering very small tidal volumes at a high frequency. The method of high-frequency jet ventilation was first introduced in the 1960s by Douglas Sanders which permitted continuous ventilation for patients without interrupting surgical practices used in various procedures. This technique used an open-rigid bronchoscope attached to an adapter which provided a pressure regulated oxygen supply as well as applying a manual valve allowing adjustment of ventilation frequency to the patient. Oxygen was then delivered typically at low tidal volumes and high frequency through a small bore nozzle placed within the bronchoscope (OXFORD).
The Article “Finding Flow” by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, expresses the choice we have in life to live or die until the end of days. He shows how we take control of our own destiny, and to not let distractions get in the way of our accomplishment. Csikszentmihalyi portrays that everyone has a different idea of accomplishment and goals, but living life to the fullest is shared by many. By saying this he means don’t waste your potential by letting side issues get in the way. In the article Csikszentmihalyi mentions a study held in a factory where most welders hated their jobs and found no passion in it.

Abstract The unknown concentration of benzoic acid used when titrated with standardized 0.1031M NaOH and the solubility was calculated at two different temperatures (20◦C and 30◦C). With the aid of the Van’t Hoff equation, the enthalpy of solution of benzoic acid at those temperatures was determined as 10.82 KJ. This compares well with the value of 10.27KJ found in the literature.
