Organizational learning has become a popular concept nowadays. But, although there is widespread acceptance of the notion of organizational learning, no agreement has been reached within the various disciplines as to what learning is, and how it occur (Crossan et al., 1995; Argote, 2011; Argote&Spektor, 2011). The learning is a continuous process. Learning is the act of acquiring new, or modifying and reinforcing, existing knowledge, behaviors, skills, values, or preferences and may involve synthesizing different types of information. In the words ofHarvard business school psychologist (Chris&Argyris, 1978)learning is "detection and correction of an error". Adaptive Leadership has two focal strengths relevant to this philosophy and validate its inclusion in this analysis. First, this style, unlike other theories, is follower-centered and leaders provide the tools necessary for followers to grow and as a result, the whole organization grows (Northouse, 2016, p.275). In any case, the hypothesis that learning will ameliorate future performance is evident (Fiol and Lynes, 1985, p.803). Moreover, the competence of an organisation to learn faster than its rivals may be the only sustainable competitive advantage (De Geus, 1988, p.71). Furthermore, Cangelosi and Dill (1965 as cited in Easterby-Smith and Lyles 2011, p.169) state that learning is a result of ameliorated
Learning from experience According to some researcher’s experiential learning theory (ELT) has been widely used in management learning research and practice for over thirty-five years. Building on the foundational works of Kurt Lewin, John Dewey and others, experiential learning theory offers a dynamic theory based on a learning series driven by the resolution of the dual tensions of action/reflection and experience/abstraction. These two dimensions state a holistic learning space wherein learning transactions take place between individuals and the environment.
“An organizational strategy is the sum of the actions a company intends to take to achieve long-term goals (Johnson, 2016)”. Organizational strategy is derived from a company 's mission, which tells why an organisation is in business. There are three important aspects of organizational strategy such as resources, scope and the company’s core competency (Johnson, 2016). Learning can be adaptive and flexible to meet life’s demand.
Different scholars identified various kinds of leadership styles that affect the job performance, satisfaction and learning and development of subordinates. Warrick, D.D (1981) cited that there are no doubt variables other than a leader’s style that affect employee performance and development but leadership style plays a significant role and not to be underestimated. An awareness of leadership styles and their consequences are very important because it may either facilitate or inhabit skill development. However organization’s culture, its mission, vision, short-term strategies all these reform the leadership process.
Growing customer expectations result in shorter life cycle of products and this means that companies should make their processes more and more flexible adopting modularity and product platforms in order to overcome competitors. Companies who fail to meet dynamic customer needs are doomed to fail. To illustrate this we can consider Tata Motors that designed a car selling at $2500 having identified the need for cheap vehicles and introduced market-pull innovation. Though having some negative feedbacks on its security it is affordable for many families in India.
