Time Management Problems at College
While time spent at college or university is a nice memory and a happy experience for most. College life is not without its rough patches. Every college student’s situation is different, but there are a few problems that almost all college students deal with at least once during their college life. Examples of challenges that college students face, study, time, finance, homesickness, friends and other.
The problem that college students face is time management.
First, it is managing workload. The amount of works you get at college is peaks and troughs. One moment you are gliding along without any concerns, the next you are snowed under with essays, assignments and projects to prepare for. Once you got them to organize your time so that everything has been get done and satisfactory. ‘Satisfactory’ is not nearly as popular with course tutors as ‘the best you can do’, but it is important to make the differentiation between the two terms. If you give everything your best, and you chase perfection. It always a dangerous waste of time when it really needs to be, and a danger to your health.
Second factor is procrastination. When you know what to do, but you just can’t face the thought of doing it, you will procrastinate it. It is the students always built up their mind about last minute to do the project or assignment. It was eleven o’three when I finally started my homework. It was official; I was in the fourth, final, and worst stage of procrastination, the crisis stage. I was exhausted, just trying to finish solving all the problems, and not even checking to see if any of them were right. It seemed no matter how many times I had to suffer the consequences of procrastination, I still chose the easy way, or at least it was easy for a while, until I had virtually no time left and had to rush to get it done.
A full-time flexible schedule demonstrates the need and usefulness of time management techniques. It is even more imperative to stay on top of my educational workload and while juggling full-time jobs. The most precious resource is time, and learning to control time is the key to academic success.
College, a life option that could potentially change your life forever. There are so many things revolving around college that makes students stress and worry about what is to come. The financial standpoint, the struggle with academic work, and the constant struggle to make time for your life and your academics. The college life is something that most teens look forward to, but many also dread. There are mass amounts of college funds that many people worry about.
Allocating time for your personal agenda is one of the best things you can do for yourself. It is proven that creating time for yourself will increase your happiness. This will help you function better throughout the day, and will enable a student to do things he/she pleases to do, example read a book. Better time management will allow a student to join clubs or activities of their choosing, and not just join the ones which improve marks. Studies have shown that students with more time on their hands will join a club of their choosing rather than the ones that so the most benefit with the least amount of effort.
Several college students deal with monetary obstacles every week. They have to deal with college books, meals, and dorms or apartments before they can even think about having any money left over for fun activities. College books, meals, and having a place to stay are all monetary obstacles because college students have to make tough decisions to get over these humps. Such as if they should choose a cheap apartment so they can have extra money for fun and risk having bad off campus living experience or choose a moderate to expensive apartment for a good off campus living experience but risk having potentially no money for fun at all.
Think about it this way: determine the order of things that must occur in order to complete the task, and then simply do each one as a task in itself. You will enjoy the fulfilling feeling of accomplishment as you complete each step, and before you know it, the entire task will be done! Feeling overwhelmed is a major contributor to procrastination, and by making big things small, you eliminate this obstacle. Nine. Clear Your Mind Procrastination is a mindset.

Students face various challenges throughout their college career. Thus, the problems that students have can range from balance, new lifestyle, to financial problems. Therefore, finding a balance between being a student, possibly working, and keeping up with their social life is a necessity. Similarly, others are away from home for the first time thus, they have a new responsibility with being on their own and findings ways to deal with homesickness. Likewise, being exposed to new financial situations is yet another challenge college students will need to learn how to cope with.
College is full of experience and to get that experience students need to get involved in campus and use all the resources that their campus offer. For my first semester at university I learned lots of information that helped me go through my first semester and I will keep using this resources until I graduate. and these resources are not just for school but also for my personal life. The first thing I have learned in college is how to manage my time and it's important to know that skill so that I would not waste time doing nothing and get schoolwork done and it won’t make me stressful because I have many assignment and project to do. and to always get done with my priority first which is my school work.
Time management: Time management is a very crucial component if you are willing to have a productive lifestyle. To be honest, I have always had issues with managing my time efficiently. This problem had become a huge obstacle once I got into college. Thus, attending a lecture that focuses on time management helped me a lot with this problem by introducing me to different aspects related to time management: planning, SMART goals, and important/urgent matrix. Learning to make a specific plan for my daily tasks and make a to-do list to make my day as productive as possible is something very helpful which was advised to me by the instructor of this lecture Mr. Irfan.
PROCRASTINATION, a deep and wide disease in a moral nature Procrastination is a thief of precious brilliant ideas and time, an enemy of progress. It is the irrational delay of creativity against your own best interest for a short or extended period, making you more sensitive to pleasure of the moment, and creating great difficulties in concentrating on long-term tasks. The beauty of procrastination is its ubiquity. Everyone procrastinates from time to time, but not everyone is a procrastinator.
The sample only comprised of undergraduate students within the age group of 18-24, and they all belonged to one business school in Karachi. Hence, the results obtained from this study cannot be generalized to a wider population to explain their procrastinating behavior. Future research must incorporate a more representative sample. For this purpose, a cross sectional research can be conducted on undergraduate students and middle aged adults to see whether the patterns of active and passive procrastination are same across different age group or varies with age.
