Chapter 3: Research Methodology
3.0 Introduction This chapter discusses the techniques or methods that are suitable to be adopted in order to carry out this research. A well-developed methodology is essential to produce a certain degree of accuracy and value of a research. Hence, elements included in chapter 3 are research design, data collection method, sampling design, research instrument, construct measurement, processing of data, and also data analysis.
3.1 Research Design According to Zikmund (2010), research design is a master plan for collecting and analyzing the needed information by specifying the methods and procedures. Creswell (2009) also explains that research design is the research process that involves the overall

The purpose of primary data researching is to enhance the comprehension and execute a direct assessment of the research by acquiring first hand information (Bush, 2006). In this research, the primary data used to gather information is questionnaire survey. A questionnaire or also known as self-administered survey is distributed to certain targeted segments of people to gather desired data. The reason of using survey questionnaire (quantitative research) is to assure the absoluteness and consistency of data gathered. Besides that, it is the only feasible way to reach a large number of interviewee, and the results from the survey questionnaire will be used as input for statistical analysis. The software used to run this analysis is Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The construction of the survey questionnaire is done by adopting and modifying the questionnaire from a number of related researches. The reason behind the adoption and modification of other well developed research questionnaire is because those questionnaires could ensure a better and higher validity used to ask the targeted respondents. Note that the higher the validity, the more accurate the measure can represent the research …show more content…
However, the constraint of secondary data is that the data may not be up to date and not necessarily will meet the exact needs of the research as it was collected for other purpose. Nonetheless, it serves as a great value for exploratory research because such research is meant to study about secondary data. In this research, secondary data is obtained from online journals and articles, mostly from ProQuest, a database for various e-books and journals.
3.3 Sampling Design
3.2.1 Target Population
Sekaran (2003) refers population as the entire group of people, events, or things that the researcher wishes to investigate (Sekaran, 2003). The major focus of this research is to investigate which factors among the three variables – customer satisfaction, brand reputation, product quality, contribute the most impact to brand loyalty towards Nestle’s products. Therefore, (grocery/supermarkets) will be the targeted industry and the target population for this research will be the purchasers of Nestle
The target respondents were invited to complete the questionnaire and directed them to a brief explanation of the research. If a respondent volunteered to participate they were able to read the instructions and complete the questionnaire online from any internet-connected device. Contact details of the researcher were also provided in the initial description of the form should the respondent have any enquiry regarding the questionnaire. Data were collected on 23rd December 2015 from 8 a.m. until 8 a.am 24th December 2015. The length of time for data collection was considered ideal as it allowed a sufficient amount of time for interested respondent to participate in the study.
As a result of searching the existing literature, the researcher was able to obtain data that correlated exceptionally well with the research topic. Indeed, the researcher gathered pertinent information from secondary sources; however, the primary sources of data were needed to draw a logical conclusion of the research at hand. So, the next step was major section III, Research Methodology. Being
In addition primary and secondary sources are used to fortify the message being out forth. Food Inc. prominently focuses on secondary data from statistics and gathered evidence from factories and factory
Introduction Chapter three will provide the reader with research methods and procedures that were used to conduct this thesis. The research methods and procedure section will be described in details how the student researcher obtained the data. Research Methods and Procedures The significant aspect of the research process consists of various peer reviewed research journals, published books and web based news articles. All of the sources gathered to compose this thesis were within the last five years, on what prior researchers have done regarding recruiting Asian-American police applicants.
a. What is the research idea? a. This research will examine how being exposed to technology eg. Cellphones, tablets, and computers at a young age effect how children learn throughout a portion of their childhood. Beginning at infancy stage (2-3 months) to preschool age (2-5 years).
Thus, this paper is going to explain (i) the surveys purpose; (ii) the survey participants; (iii) the method of delivery; (iv)
Methods: Information sources Both primary and secondary data were used in order to gather information for using in research paper in parts such as context and results. These materials were used to answer research questions in aims. Secondary research: Many information was electronically read in different sites. The available materials such as newspapers, journals, electronic information, news and magazines were reviewed and used. Primary research: There were applied a raw data.
2.0 Procedure A few secondary resources were used in the research process. These sources range from newspapers articles, news website (BBC) and online databases which were accessed via the Internet. These sources were chosen based on direct relation to the topic and its scope. Moreover, these sources were referred to gain better understanding about the topic and explore expert opinions and research done in order to fulfil the criteria of each objective
From this point of view, loyal behavior cannot provide a comprehensive conception of fundamental cause of loyalty. In addition, repetition occurs may be due to different restrictions resulted from the market. Therefore, the loyalty of this type of customer differs from the loyalty of those customers who really support a product and they do have psychological bond with a product and company. So, customer’s brand loyalty was considered as an attitudinal
Thus, this paper is going to explain (i) the surveys purpose; (ii) the survey participants; (iii) the method of delivery; (iv) the collection and storage of the data; (v) any concerns or biases that might exist in the survey results; and (vi) the response format.
ADVANCED AND APPLIED BUSINESS RESEARCH Name: Muhammad Zubair Qureshi ERP: 12191 Section: MBA (Morning) Topic: WAC (Pillsbury Cookie) Submitted to: Dr. Huma Amir Date: 31-1-2016 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This case tackles the research analysis that was conducted by General Mills Canada to understand the major factors in terms of variables of their target market in order to make a specific strategy to better the sales performance of the Pillsbury Refrigerated Baked Goods or “RBG”. This research highlights how the company was analyzing consumer preferences in accordance to taste usage and purchase intension for the RBG cookies.
The term Research Methodology refers to a set of procedures, methods & techniques that are put together by the researchers to obtain a solution to the problems they confront during the collection of data. The researchers look for the most crucial data which is inevitable for the research. Generally there are three kinds of approaches or research methods namely Qualitative, Quantitative and Mixed. These methods are used to gather data and resolve issues that emerge during the process of data gathering. The researcher can bring forward his findings either in the form of quantitative or qualitative or mixed research methodologies only when the data is collected based on the preliminary data gathering process and the secondary data gathering process.
