Dallas Winston
A hero is someone who puts others before themselves and looks past the small things which Dallas Winston from The Outsiders did because he helped others in need, looked past his dislikes, and cared for his gang. He acted tuff and did bad things but really he did have a soft spot.
Dally helped others when they needed it. The ways he did help people made it look like he was a bad guy, but really he wasn't. When Johnny and Ponyboy needed help they went right to him because they knew he would know what to do, and when they got there Dally immediately gave them a place to go, a loaded heater, and 50 dollars. Dallas also gave Ponyboy a dry shirt to wear because he was wet and cold. Then after a week he came back and took them to eat which shows that he cares because he could have just left them out there alone.
Dallas Winston looked past his dislikes many times. He said in the beginning that he doesn't like kids however he still helped Ponyboy and Johnny get the kids out of the church when it was on fire, which shows

Above all he cared for Johnny the most because he was the “gang's pet”, Dally cared about Johnny so much that when Johnny died Dally came up with a plan to die too. Another way Dally cared for the gang is that when Johnny and Ponyboy was at the Church reading Gone With The Wind Johnny said that the Southern boys reminded him of Dally because on night the fuzz came because Two-bit broke the windows at the school but Dally took the blame without batting an eye when he could have let Two-bit get in trouble. Dally even broke out of the hospital to help fight in the rumble. Some may say that Dallas didn't do anything and it was Johnny who was the hero although if Dally didn't help Johnny and Ponyboy they would have went straight to the police and most likely would have been put in jail which would have caused them to not be the same soft people they
Dallas Winston or also known as Dally came from New York and was in some of the most appalling gangs. Now Dally is with the greasers he is the tough and troublemaker of the group. Dally and his gang does have troubles with another gang the Socs and is very bitter because there is absolutely no way that they could defeat them. Dally has an elfish face, with high cheekbones, appointed chin, small sharp animal like teeth, ears like and lynx, hair so blonde it looked white, and he hated haircuts and oil he just left his hair natural and let it fall in front of his forehead. Dallas Winston was very reckless, foolish and reliable.
He loves Johnny because he got Johnny out of trouble,he saved him from a burning church, and Dally killed himself because Johnny died. Johnny killed Bob because one of his friends was drowning Ponyboy. They had to find a place to hide so they had to ask someone to help them. Dally gave them his gun and his money to help them even though it could mean jail for him.(Chapter 4) This purely means that he loves Johnny because it means that he could go to jail.
Dally is not strong mentally (when he couldn’t let Johnny go), he really does not do good deeds, and he does not care about any other people than only Johnny, and he’s rude to others and bad at using words. A quotation that supports my statement is, “What for? Get back in here before I beat your head in.” (p.90) This quotation supports my statement because Dally said this to Ponyboy when he hopped off the car and said to see what the deal is when he saw the old church on fire, it proves that Dally does not care about other stuff that does not involve him and that he’s rude to others and using
Johnny Cade, one of the members of the Greasers was born on March 1st, 1949 and sadly passed away in the year of 1965. The cause of his death was he went in a burning church and was burned and a broken back. One of his accomplishments was him saving the children. Johnny died from the cause of him saving children from a burning church. Dally was proud of him because he did a hero.
Out of all, Dallas Winston was a person who loved Johnny like his own brother and Johnny loved him back,
Dallas has been trouble his whole life. He's known for being a delinquent and causing trouble where ever he goes. His pals Ponyboy and Johnny were young men that looked up to Dallas as role model. If there was any conflict or concern about something the boys would come to Dallas for advice, as the tough guy personality and their
Love - an intense feeling of deep affection. Love is an emotion shown in many romantic or family relationships as well as friendships. Love is shown frequently throughout the entirety of the book The Outsiders. For example, Dally is an extremely aggressive and audacious person, but he also shows immense love towards Johnny. Sodapop is a fun-loving, carefree high-school dropout, but he is understanding and shows love to both of his brothers by seeing both sides of an argument.
We can see towards the end of the novel that Dally begins to blow after Johnny's death, as stated by Ponyboy "Dallas is gone, " I said. "He ran out like the devil was after him. He's gonna blow up. He couldn't take it." (Hinton, 130.).
He ultimately became a better person a the end of his life. Johnny is a Christ-like figure because he sacrificed himself to save children from a fire; Johnny also contributes to the a theme of the book: appearances aren’t everything; lastly he serves to teach Ponyboy about the world though his actions and words. Johnny is a Christ-like figure for saving kids from a burning building. Evidence is shown in this quote—“Johnny yelled, ‘shut up! We’re goin’ to get you out!’”
These are important because they give us a first impression is Dallas Winston and how he doesn't care about other people's feelings. He does have a soft spot, though, but you’ll have to read about it
This shows how he gained back his self-confidence and his ability to stand up for himself. Johnny finally found his acceptance from Dally when Dally said, “We’re all so proud of you” (148). When Dally said that Ponyboy noticed Johnny’s eyes glowing, “Dally was proud of him... That was all he ever wanted” (148). In the letter he wrote to Ponyboy, “It’s worth saving those kids...
The first time we see this is after Johnny and Ponyboy arrive fresh from the murder to seek Dally’s help. He gives them dry clothes, a loaded gun, fifty dollars, and tells them a location to hide in. He gave them the essentials they need even though he could have gone to jail. Darry would have even beat up Dally to death for helping them escape town and giving them a gun and money. According to Ponyboy, “...he [Dally] got drunk, he rode in rodeos, lied, cheated, stole, rolled drunks, jumped small kids—he did everything.”
(pg. 72). Even through this small comment, you can see Ponyboy’s concern for Johnny’s safety. He also shows his worriedness and protectiveness over Johnny on page 102, “Dally’ll be okay I thought. Dallas is always okay.
After that, Ponyboy finds himself in a situation that he personally can’t back out of. It’s the fire at the church. Ponyboy, starts running in to help save the children, but when he turns around, he sees Johnny. “Hey Ponyboy,” Johnny says. Johnny was following Ponyboy into the fire to help save the kids.
In The Outsiders, Johnny’s place in the greaser gang is the group's pet. Johnny has horrible parents and he got badly beat up by the Socs in the past. Regardless of this terrible background, Johnny stills stays the caring person he is. Dally, another member of the greasers is known as quite the opposite. People see him as the reckless boy with no family who lives to cause trouble and doesn’t feel any shame in it.
