In the novel “Their Eyes Were Watching God” relationships were a big part of the reason, Janie woods was such a dynamic character. The reason being, she was faced with many different trials and tribulations, which found their way into her path making her ability to find love and pursue it, a little difficult. Another reason was opinions that she got from her family, friends and peers in her surroundings. Those negative components, were reasons there were positive changes in janie. Being forced, pressured and mislead into relationships made her stronger, and more independent.
Strength and endurance was an important theme and trait in Janie's relationships. Strength was required of janie, as she went through her days wanting and seeking love. She was slapped and beaten in two of her relationships. Being harassed in those relationships, displayed her strength as an individual, mentally and physically. Not runnig away everytime she was beaten showed her mental toughness, including when words were used instead of hitting her flesh. Over the course of this novel she has gained strength as she faces different situations and problems in each relationship, which made this a positive relationship.

All three relationships were positive because of what she was faced with in those associations, that made her a stronger, more independent character. No matter what was said about her or who she was with, she was stationary and not persuaded. Janie has shown herself to be a strong woman that can handle any situation.
