General Zaroff is a great hunter but gets got bored of hunting the same animals, so he decidesd to hunt people. General Zaroff startsed to have fun and keepsed luring people in with tricks. General Zaroff demonstrates that he is honest, dangerous, and arrogant.

Rainsford did not like Zaroff, the war general, one bit as a human being.(appositive) Rainsford thought what Zaroff was doing is cold-blooded murder. Rainsford is not wrong the general really is killing humans for the enjoyment. Rainsford explains that he is a hunter and does not use his skills to hunt down people and kill them. I have read the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell. In this story, Rainsford, a faimed author and hunter, falls off his ship and winds up on an island where he meets a man. This man turns out to be a former Russian General, General Zarroff. General Zarroff , it just so happens, is a hunter in his own but of a different nature. To escape the island he must outwit his host in the General’s own game of hunting. This requires him to go to extreme lengths to survive on the Devilish island he wound up on. General Zaroff is an amazing hunter, “[has] hunted every kind of game in every land” (). Since he has hunted every animal and was smarter than every animal, there was nothing left for him to hunt. General Zaroff had been hunting since he was a child, and he thought all animals were too easy, except one. “‘It must have courage, cunning, and, above all, it must be able to reason’” (). By this, he means humans. General Zaroff wants to kill people for the fun of it and to challenge himself. And when the character, Rainsford, confronts him about hunting people being a crazy idea, Zaroff is surprised that Rainsford doesn’t like the idea. Zaroff is similar to Montresor, in the way that they want to kill people. Although, they have different reasons for doing so. Montresor kills because he wants Fortunato to pay for the so called injuries he committed towards Montresor. And Zaroff kills for joy, and excitement. He wants a challenge, and hunting any regular type of animal isn’t good enough. It’s as if he is hungry for a challenge, and he knows the only thing as smart as him, is one of his kind. This is a mental flaw due to the fact that it is a way to almost disguise murder. Saying that he wants to hunt an animal that can reason instead of saying he wants to kill people.     Throughout the globe, people cherish hunting. It can be challenging, but still a great way of entertainment. Morally, hunting animals is okay or adequate, because it stays within reason. However, in “The Most Dangerous Game”, General Zaroff is convinced that killing humans for sport is acceptable. That idea is very absurd, for many different reasons. This includes the fact that it is barbaric, bluntly it is cold murder, and frankly there is no reason for it.

Jing- mei , the daughter, is forced to become a prodigy(child actress), by her mother, and she doesn’t want to be one. In the story, Jing- meis’ mother uses allusions such as Shirley Temple to push her into becoming a prodigy. Although at first Jing- mei is excited to become a prodigy, she later realizes its something she just doesn’t enjoy doing. Consequently, the uses of allusion in the story help Jing- mei discover to not be a prodigy and that what her mother wants for her is not always important.
