Her diligent character can be seen when she helps her mother during her work and when Missy decides to stay in school and get a proper basic education to be able to help her mother financially. This is seen as how emotional she has become because of the heartbreak of not being able to have the person she loves be with her, but through this heartbreak, she was able to mature as a person. Also, character relationships can be seen through the relationship between Taylor and Mama. It illustrates Mama as a person that Taylor is able to go to for advice whenever and wherever which describes the mother daughter relationship that they have. This is revealed through Taylor calling her mother for help in what to do after the emotional conflict she is experiencing from heartbreak. Moreover, this heartbreak leads her to call "1-800-THE LORD" which acts as a point to show when she feels as if she has reached the lowest point in her life as seen through the heartbreak she experienced. Even though she feels that she has reached the lowest point in her life, she perseveres through it and gets past it thus further illustrating character development in

As a person who doesn’t necessarily read on a regular basis, this intrigues me to learn more about Kingsolver. A development that she showed was about that anyone can do something you never thought you’d be good at. They way she portrays herself from being a girl who had no idea she’d become a writer to being a successful one and thoroughly enjoying it now, reminds me of myself. Her thinking process of writing novels or journals captivated my perspective of her, and is making me want to read her book. As mentioned, she wrote her The Bean Trees in her closet because of her insomnia.
