Quinn White English IV Honors Mrs. Schroder 2/14/18 Pride and Prejudice Essay Throughout the novel Pride and Prejudice, we see many scenes in which the relationship between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy evolves from being a negative relationship to a positive relationship. Jane Austen does this throughout the novel by providing the reader with clues and hints that the relationship between the two is evolving. These hints provide the reader with not only seeing that characters actions, but their dialog as well. Through the novel the biggest and most easy clues can be found when these characters are together and not together. The readers sees the relationship evolving between the two in this scene because of how Darcy begins to think of Elizabeth when he talks to her. Darcy sees that Elizabeth is different than other women like Miss Bingley. He sees this because of how Elizabeth is disagreeing and contradicting everything he is saying in the conversation. During this conversation Miss Bingley is agreeing with everything that Darcy is saying. This makes Darcy feel as if Elizabeth is different than others and that she actually thinks for herself and does not always do or believe what others do. Elizabeth now realizes that she actually rather than just being friendly with him she now loves him. The letter made the two of them friends and now this pushes her over the edge to love him. The love, however is unknown by Darcy and he is still afraid that they will not be able to come together until Lady Catherine De Bourgh steps in and tells Elizabeth to stay away from Darcy and not accept his proposal. She essentially says that Elizabeth cannot accept the proposal because she is a lower social class and her family is too big of an embarrassment to have her marry Darcy.
