Daniel, from Daniel’s Story by Carol Matas is someone you should look up to. Daniel is someone you should look up to because he’s intelligent, sneaky, and most of all caring. Daniel needs to have these character traits to survive the Nazi’s. Daniel goes on a roller coaster that isn’t so thrilling. His horrific adventure will bring out these character traits in Daniel’s fight to survive. My first reason why Daniel is someone you should look up to is because he’s intelligent. For example, Daniel told his Father, “Slap your cheeks, father. Bite your lips.” This demonstrates Daniel is intelligent because if Daniel and his father didn’t make it past the Nazi’s medical inspection, they probably would have died. Also, when Daniel was in his secret …show more content…
One way Daniel resembles he’s sneaky is at Auschwitz when he sees Erika playing in the band. Daniel recognizes that Erika is depressed so he figures Erika thinks everyone in there family is dead. Daniel knows he needs to get Erika’s attention so she won’t give up. While working that days he sets up a little ball of cloth and plans to throw it at Erika to get her attention. While walking back Daniel spots Erika and does a little twitch with his arm and hits Erika. Erika sees father and Daniel. This explains Daniel is sneaky because he would have gotten killed if a S.S. Officer saw Daniel do it. That is sneaky. Also, Daniel worked for the resistance at Auschwitz. He learned he’d do a death-risking job of taking pictures of the gas-chambers and bodies burning at Auschwitz. Daniel takes the risk and here is what happens, “ I took the camera out of its case and made sure the exposure was such that the flames would look like a bright white background and the blackened bodies would show through clearly. I took three pictures before I put the camera back.” Daniel later took pictures of the gas chambers and returned the camera. This illustrates Daniel is sneaky because again, he put his life on the line for a sneaky job. Daniel had to be sneaky because the German Officer’s eyes were burning holes through the Jews. This was a practically impossible job for Daniel to take these pictures. Therefor, he had to be
The Good Nazi Analysis Under a tyrant’s command, who seemed to have no human morality, one man felt remorse for the things he did, or so he made us think. Dan van der Vat uses tone to show skepticism towards Albert Speer’s true intentions during his run with the Nazi regime. In his novel, The Good Nazi: The Life and Lies of Albert Speer Dan van der Vat goes over all of Albert speer’s, a top-ranking Nazi officer and Hitler’s closest friend, life and decisions. The author uses tone to show Speer’s feelings towards the party, the feelings of those around Speer, and to show suspicions of Speer 's claims and intentions. In Dan van der Vat 's novel, The Good Nazi, the author displays Albert Speer 's human element with an inspective tone.
It is human nature that as one goes through personal struggles, those around them also begin to be shaped and impacted by these personal changes. In The Book Thief By Markus Zusak, one of the main characters, Max Vandenburg, journeys through the Holocaust war as a Jewish man. He comes in contact with a family of three, Rosa, Hans, and their foster daughter, Liesel. Max seeks refuge in their home and although he is confined to their basement, he is on a personal journey that stretches farther than the Earth. Max Vandenburg begins as a strong man but the trials in his life strengthen him relationally, emotionally, and in his self-confidence.
People may seem normal to some, but to others extremely weird. All of this all depends on the person’s perspective. In the novel Night, by Wiesel, Elie has a different perspective and sees Moishe the Beadle in a different way from that of everyone else in the city of Sighet. Most people in the city of Sighet thought as Moishe as a man who was just a vagrant. An example of this is when Elie say mentions that he lived in “utter penury”(Wiesel, 3).
The Kite Runner The character I feel is largely important is Amir in the book Kite Runner. Amir is the narrator of the story, a story that give details about his childhood and it continues all the way through his lifetime. When he is reminded of the tragic events in 1975, in which he carried out awful sins against his friend and half brother, Hassan. His childhood is very rough and very eventful which makes the book interesting.
The Boy in the Red Bandana was an inspirational person for many reasons. He worked in buisness, but he had always wanted to be a firefighter. On the tragic day of 9/11, he stepped up to bat with the baseball was coming at full force. That’s when Welles decided that he would risk his life for the purpose of saving others. Welles has inspired many people with his story of kind human nature, and that is exactly the type of good influences the world needs.
Adam Braun learned his toughness from his father and gained his tenacity from the stories of his grandparents who had survived the Holocaust and fled to America. Adam relied on these characteristics when he struggled to hold down a well-paying job on Wall Street that promised him a bright future while pursuing his dream of helping poor children in developing countries who had little hope for the future.
But then he goes on to say people won't think of Daniel as a monster but a mentally ill man who snapped because he felt he needed to avenge his mother, whom he believed to had been
Also as he fought in the Revolutionary War. The reason I chose Daniel for this is because he is strong, courageous, and brave. Dan is a strong character in the novel. I think Ann Rinaldi made him like this because he has to carry a musket around in The Revolutionary war. To prove my guess i have a quote by Jemima Emmerson: “If only the gun weren’t so heavy(Ann 4)” the reason i chose this is because this proves that he is strong.

The memoir Night written by Holocaust survivor Eliezer Wiesel is a recollection of the Holocaust. In the memoir Eliezer describes his experience during the height of the Holocaust near the end of the second World War. A time of concentration camps and prejudice on Jews from the Germans/Nazis. In Eliezer’s memoir he uses literary devices to help bring his experience to life for the audience. Using similes, metaphors, irony, symbolism, imagery, and so much more.
When Elie arrives at Auschwitz, “[he] did see this, with [his] own eyes... children thrown into the flames” (Wiesel 32). Elie witnesses the dark flames that are produced from the killings of innocent Jews. He could not believe he was set in a world where such cruelty took place. Elie changes from a young and innocent boy to a heartless man.
According to his mother he spends most of his time in his room by himself playing games on the computer or watching T.V. Daniel additionally, states on occasion he hears his deceased father voice conversing with him. Daniel is paranoid that people at school, work, and the stranger on the street is talking
Although humans may originally behave due to innate reasons, much of literature argues external forces shape character and possess the power to influence the way societies behave. Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief exhibits how individuals may react in times of discrimination, and demonstrates the love and hate accompanying war. Difficult times challenge morality, and tests one’s limits; Liesel Meminger perseveres through arduous events, namely due to her identity as a creative and brave adolescent. Liesel’s identity is shaped and ultimately strengthened by outside forces.
Conflicts can arise in many situations, but overcoming these obstacles is another conflict in itself. Just as in reality, there are many types of conflicts depicted in fictional stories; even the ones that cannot be controlled; and several ways that the characters attempt to overcome them. In the historical fiction novel, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, the main character, Bruno, experiences multiple conflicts. This novel is about Bruno's life, a naive nine year old, who came from an important and wealthy German family during the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a time period in World War II in which the Nazi Germans discriminated against Jews and killed millions of them throughout Germany as well as other countries in Europe.
