Joalexis Nursing Professional Development Plan Introduction While attending high school I always wanted to work in the healthcare field. I completed an emergency medical technician program at Valencia College. I started working at Florida Hospital Orlando (FHO) as a psychiatric technician in their behavioral health unit. While working at FHO I meet many nurses, I saw what they did, and desire grew on me to become a registered nurse. The path into becoming a registered nurse was a very confusing process for me because there are three entry levels of nursing, the bachelors science nursing (BSN) degree route, the associate degree (AD) route, and the diploma in nursing, which is basically a hospital based nursing school (Black, 2010, p. 60).
I believe that I belong in the nursing field, because ever since I was a child, I always wanted to make a positive influence in people's lives. I just did not know how. No one is perfect, we all have weaknesses. My weaknesses include being shy and taking charge, but I do outgrow after
Lastly, I also plan to get a possible certification of massage therapy and or personal training as a side job. I have figured out that this is all a process. Luckily for me, I’m a very impatient person. Yes, this is one of my few bad qualities. I want to be successful in life.
She was great and really helped me become more organized. I am not going to say that my shift reports are smooth sailing from now on, I still have a lot of improvement. My brain is always so disorganized so it is going to be awhile before I can do this in a systematic way. My plan for improvement is to keep practicing with my peers on shift reports. I am also lacking confidence in myself, so I need to improve on this.
I would like to be a nurse practitioner in the future. After I finish the practical nursing program, I would then need to study for a registered nurse certification. I could go to school for two years and achieve an Associate degree ADN or for four years for a Bachelor of Science in nursing BSN. Then enroll in a Master of Science in nursing program that specializes in a number of things like immunology, microbiology, pathology, pediatrics, emergency treatment, and anesthesia training. A Master 's degree lasts for two years.
I took a nursing assistant class through a dual enrollment program. I performed clinical hours at Golden Living Center in Rome, Georgia for CNA training. I took this class not because I wanted to become a nurse but because this was the only healthcare class left that I had not taken. I did not want to go senior year without taking a class in healthcare because I did not want to forget important skills that I had learned in prior classes. This class taught me a lot about the medical field.
As soon as I entered high school, I started taking all the “medical” and science classes, such as principles of health science, that were required in order to take a CNA program, which is a certified nursing assistant, during my senior year. Taking the CNA program has only amplified my desire to become a nurse. The primary duties of a CNA is to feed, bathe, dress, and take patients’ vital signs; this may seem very basic
I know how hard she works to give me an education and that’s why I value school and give it my all. Many privileged kids here in the U.S don’t take the opportunity many of us wish we had. For example, wealthy parents that can afford to pay college. I want to go to college because I want to give my parents a good future. Give back to them for all of their hard toil.
Verbally Verbal communication has always been a struggle for me; I must admit that I am better at expressing my thoughts and ideas when I write them down on paper. Before attending college, I typically did not think before I spoke and I did not sugar coat my words, which now I realize how this has affected some of my relationships with people and how I had unintentionally hurt people in the past. I find myself still learning and recognizing that this is an area that I anticipate will become more natural to me as I become a more competent nurse. Since this part of communication has been a struggle to me, therapeutic communication was also a struggle when it came to speaking to patients, staff, and taking nursing exams. Through every nursing
However, after I have took the course I notice that it is a big problem which can affect my mother psychologically health and her job satisfy. Therefore, I choose her as my interviewee so that I can know about her problem more and also to use what I have learned to help her. From the interview, my mother told me that there is one period of time when she is not actually happy with her work life because she cannot get along with her teammates and her leader; however, she has no problem with her assigned work. Her problem prove the
The person I interviewed is the campus Diversity Recruiter Candace Villanueva. She loves working in higher education. I enjoy helping students reach their academics and life goals. Her passion is working with gifted students. She is capable of sharing her achieve strength with these students by pushing them further.
Boardman is very basic, and not extremely integrated. I was at a point where, I didn’t have a self of belonging at my school for awhile. There weren’t any individual outlets for people who were artsy or creative. Majority of the people, were okay with fitting in, and staying in there ‘norms’. I, on the other hand, did not.
In our nightly conversations, I would watch as her eyes filled with pride when I would tell her about my schoolwork. She believed in me, but she reserved none of that optimism for herself. She was apathetic about her life and unhappy with the constraints that came with her illness. Upon realizing this, I knew that what I had learned in the Durnibar Foundation would be able to change my aunt’s life. In our apartment complex, there were a few older people that could use some company.
Not only will I be receiving an excellent education, I will also be learning to grow into a more spiritual, moral person. At St. Brigid’s School, I have done my best to be a good student. I work hard and study to achieve academic success, and I ask my parents and teachers for help if I don’t understand a concept I have been learning. During my time at St.
I might always have health issues, and I may not ever be able to relax. However, that struggle and that desire to overcome has inspired me not only to get back to the person I was before the surgeries, but to better myself because of it. It’s that drive that inspires me to stay up studying well after the sun has set, to endure the pain during my physical therapy sessions, and most importantly to see that everyone must overcome adversity no matter how much it may affect their life. I see the way my mother put her entire universe on hold to care for me, and how agonizing that must have been to watch her daughter nearly slip away. I see the little girl with the plaid comforter, she was so tough, hoisting a smile onto her face when the rest of her body was in so much pain.
