Charles Darwin started off as a normal kid but turned out to be a genius scientist. He was very interested in nature and often studied it. He even went on a 5 year voyage around the world and that is what made him so successful.

Charles Darwin’s family sparked his interests in science and nature. Charles Robert Darwin was born February 12, 1809 in Shrewsbury, England. His mom, Susanna Darwin worked for a famous China factory. His dad, Robert Darwin was a successful doctor. He had 5 siblings. His 4 sisters were Caroline, Marianne, Susan and Emily and his brother Was Erasmus Darwin. And his wife was Emma Wedgewood. His dad would tell him to count all the flowers in the garden and he would. In 1825 he went to Edinburgh University with his older brother Erasmus. Two years later in 1827 he went to Christs college for one year. Then went to Cambridge university in 1828. Then graduated in 1831 with a bachelor’s degree.

Charles darwin started off his career with a lot of discoveries. He traveled the world on a boat called the HMS Beagle from December 27 1831-1836. He made his first major discovery on the voyage by finding 3 big animal fossils. Charles Darwin was also a writer, geologist, naturalist, and biologist. And he also worked on science and evolution.

Charles Darwin had many important achievements. He created the theory of evolution by natural selection. Natural selection is a theory that if animals adapt to their surroundings they can survive. But if they can’t they die off. Charles Darwin was also elected into the royal society in 1839. And into the French Academy of Sciences in 1878.

Charles Darwin did a lot of stuff during his later life. First he published an autobiography and a book called “The Voyage of the Beagle”. Cambridge University also honored him an honorary doctorate. But unfortunately Charles Robert Darwin passed away on 1882 at age 73 at his home in Down House, Kent. And was buried in Westminister,
