“My father had been a vaquero all his life,” (2). Gabriel only knew how to be a vaquero and did not want to give up his lifestyle until Antonio came into the world then he and Marie decides that Gabriel give up his lifestyle in exchange for finding better place to raise their family. But that did not mean Gabriel giving his dream to explore the Illano. “My father’s dream was to gather up his older sons and move westward to the land of the setting sun (14)”. The move and along with his older sons going to war made Gabriel sad and fearful of not accomplish his dream so he soon found hope in liquor to wash away the pain but it only fueled his rage.
Doodle’s disabilities affected him from birth so he was not treated equal and his brother wanted him to learn the things he should already know. What prompted Doodle’s brother to help him was embarrassment which over came all of his feelings. Being different was hard for Doodle but at times it was harder for his brother to put up with because, as the narrator states, “Doodle was my brother and he was going to cling to me forever, no matter what I did. ”(Hurts 159). Unfortunately Doodle was told he would never live and because of that he was never taught anything as a child.

From him stepping foot into tribal school and meeting the Principal, to him getting the news his father had beaten his mother ferociously. Anger being built up inside of him.
Yusef is faced with the memories and the pain brought by the memorial that are almost too much to bare. Yusef is fighting an internal war due to the fact that he faces sorrows that this war brings into his life. The speaker has a grim tone throughout the story and casts a soldier's perspective. This story made the reader experience the pain that Yusef was going through. This story touched the reader as Yusef had to revisit his dark past.

Although they did care greatly for Chris and his sister, they had not shown that in enough ways to prevent the tragedy of Chris’ fate. The fact that his parent were there for his physically, but not mentally had a great effect on him. According to the movie and the book “Into The Wild”, I perceived that the major catalyst for Chris to leave was his parents. Even when he was younger, he had to protect his younger sister from their parents when they would produce fierce fights that led to some physicalities. So in turn, Chris ended up being fed up and couldn’t handle the stress, which concluded with him to leave.
Throughout the entirety of the movie, Harry yearns to be like the others around him, who have family to love and provide for them. This makes the audience feel sorrow and empathy for the young boy and the hardships he is experiencing. Harry also has a supernatural experience with his parents. Harry discovers a room with a mirror called The Mirror of Erised. This magical artifact shows will show whoever is looking at it, what they desire the most in life.
