These are some of his other family members, Josiah Wedgwood and Thomas Wedgwood. Darwin’s mother, Susanna died when he was just 8 years old. On January 29, 1839, Darwin chose to marry his cousin Emma Wedgwood.
1. The theory of evolution by natural selection is a mechanism used to detail how species evolve throughout time. It is not concerned with how the earth was formed, or how living things began, but how the characteristics of these living things advance from generation to generation. Charles Darwin is considered to be the father of evolution by natural selection. Darwin observed nature for many years of his life and published his findings in 1859 in a book named On the Origin of Species.
So, Charles was sent away to the university of Edinburgh, where his father trained to become a doctor. He learned very quickly he did not want to be a doctor, he couldn’t even sit threw one operation. Next, he attended John Stevens and received a bachelor’s in botany. He became very interested in the scientific ideas of the geologist Adam Sedgwick and the naturalist John Henslowe. In this time John Henslowe could help him secure a berth on the British navy mapping expedition.

A common name heard when discussing evolution is Charles Darwin, who is well known for his works as a naturalist. While other naturalist stated that all species stayed the same throughout time, Darwin wanted to prove otherwise. He noticed that there were similarities between species all over the globe which varied based on locatio. Despite the other naturalists, Darwin came up with the idea that all species gradually evolved from a common ancestor. This lead for him to believe that species would survive due to a process called “natural selection.”

He suspected that humans evolved from monkeys or apes due to the many similarities between the two. But what Darwin found fascinating is that after every generations, the offspring would be more immuned, much stronger, and more intelligent then their ancestors. Charles Waring Darwin was born in November of 1856, the first child Emma had given birth to in five years. It was soon clear that he was severely retarded. He died a year and a half later when a scarlet fever epidemic raged through Down.
