Cheerleading teaches responsibility, teamwork, and leadership. In cheer, they have to take responsibility if cheerleaders forget a count or the stunt messes up because they did not do something correctly. Cheerleaders have to work with their team and stunt group to perfect their routine and have a positive attitude. I think that people don’t even really know that cheerleading consists of competitions just like any other sport. I am a firm believer that if more people would start to look at it like a football team or a hockey team, we would have a lot more people supporting cheerleading as a major sport.
