The first time I tried cheerleading When I was little I wanted to do cheerleading I wanted do flips and stuff like that . Then my mom put my in cheerleading .So the next day she took me to Cheerleading , but I didn 't know how to do anything at all . So I was trying so hard everyday to do cheerleading . I was really getting tired of cheerleading
Then after time it started to get really getting bording to be there .So after that I told my mom if I do something different. So the person who knew the place we asked her if i can do something different so she had yes and I chose to do combo that is Jazz,Ballet , and Tap . So the next day was the class so me and my mom had to go buy shoe for that class.
So I learn how to
I like experimenting with different things, most people don’t see cheerleading as a sport but I would like to prove them wrong … I’m not interested in cheerleading for the popularity, but for it being a sport I really enjoy a lot.
That morning me, my mom, and my sisters went to the competition. It stunk we had to walk all the way there because the skywalk was closed and it was freezing cold. I was so tired because me and my mom stayed up tell 1:00 A.M. helping my mom make sign for every single girl that was on the cheer team. Right when we walked into the area where they performed its was so loud there was blaring loud speakers playing music for the teams. It was funny right
Soon after switching sports, cheer started to consume my life. Since I recently started high school when I began cheer, it was an all around adjustment to a new sport and a new school. Daily practices started to
Look around the room ,do you see anyone who looks the same? You shouldn’t, no one is the same. The things about me are different from many other people I like to dance, I love vegetables, and I I also hate liars. The first thing you need know about be is that I’m a dancer. I am really competitive dancer. I have been competing since last year and ever since then I’ve been pushed.
I unfortunately choked up and didn’t make it on that team. Instead of giving up I choose to keep practicing. I decided to join another team outside of school to improve my skills. My new goal was to make it to my high school cheer team. My new team taught me team skills and with that we were able to win many competitions.
I have been cheering for five years now. I can not remember the times when I was not a cheerleader, it is hard to imagine myself doing anything other than cheer or simply not cheering at all. I fell in love with the sport and within time, my passion towards it grew even more. Cheerleading consumed my life, it was my only focus. I was fortunate enough to grow up with coaches that pushed me to reach limits I did not even know I had, as well as teammates whom I shared the same passion towards the sport with.
Achievements I have accomplished along the way include getting state runner-up in high school, being All-American, being the first girl at my high school to receive a full-ride cheerleading scholarship, competing at the National Cheerleading Association, competing at the Worlds Cheerleading Competition, and many other minor accomplishments. All these accomplishments and moments in my cheerleading career, have given me so many opportunities, memories, and lifelong relationships. Looking back, these memories and accomplishments are what made me the person I am today. The biggest takeaway I have from the sport overall is, the work is worth it. When you are passionate about something, the only option you have to be successful is to put every ounce you have into it and the results will show.
Competitive cheerleading has been my passion ever since I was six years old, but not until I became an athlete at Kansas City Athletic Cheer did I fall in love with it. Being a part of the highest level team at Kansas City Athletic Cheer, Platinum, meant that cheer would become my entire life. I lived for the hard practices, competing in front of thousands of spectators around the country, and most importantly being a part of something that was bigger than myself. This place was filled with coaches and teammates that unfailingly brightened my day. Whenever I had a bad day or just felt down, it was always my place to go to escape reality and release stress.
We’re not here to show you high school cheerleading. We’re here to show you the young women and men putting all of their free-time into a stuffy old gym. Trusting each other with their lives and defying gravity. We’re not here to show you the average athlete.
Throughout my Life and high school career I have spent many hours with teachers and coaches. I have had many experiences, but the one that stands out most to me is my former cheerleading coach and gym teacher, Ms. Traska. She coached our team with no background in cheerleading. She brought us closer as a team and being part of this team has made a difference in my life. The two years that Ms. Traska coached were the most fun, productive, and memorable years that I have been on the team.
What is really the secret to perfecting all these major components in cheerleading? The straightforward answer is PHYSICS! Nothing could be done in cheerleading without the use of physics. This year I was honored to be the captain of the cheerleading team in Zapata High School. We started since June in the summer to try to perfect the simple stunts needed to know before we got to the more challenging and difficult ones.
My first year of school cheerleading, I have really grown to love the game of basketball and football, and cheer during games. I love to be interactive during the games and be on the side lines to cheer the players
To be on the cheerleading squad there is a required try out. For the tryout you perform a dance, cheer, and three chants within a small group. The other requirements are that you assemble a cheer and perform it by yourself along with three to four jumps. At my last tryouts I made varsity for football and basketball cheerleading. Another team that I participate in is volleyball.
Many people have good and bad experiences about the sports or hobbies they love. For myself, cheerleading is one of those that I have excelled in due to the amazing coaches that have taught me. It is not only a skill, but a respectable title in my eyes. Although I have grown a love and passion for cheer, it was not easy at first glance. Unfortunately, failure came before success.
I felt confident in my tumbling, however I had never stunted before and I couldn’t seem to get the hang of it. I am very short, so the only position available for me on the team was to be a flyer. This terrified me and as the summer went on, the majority of the upperclassmen whom I had become friends with ended up quitting. It eventually got to the point where I dreaded going to practice and didn’t want cheer to distract me from my school work. I ended up resigning from cheer right before school started and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
