Binchley College is a four year, private institution that was chartered in 1805. It is off the Eastern Shore of Virginia and was the first college in the nation to provide undergraduate degrees in Native American studies and marine ecology. Students learn foundations in arts and sciences for the first two years of school, and then focus on their major for the remaining two years. It is the mission of Binchley College to “nurture the intellect, imagination, and sense of responsible global citizenship to prepare students to faces challenges that face our planet and our global community including all indigenous people. Maxwell McKee is a sophomore at Virginia Commonwealth University. He is currently undeclared, but is planning on declaring a major in business management this coming fall. This summer Max has been working at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty partner, as a marketing intern under Kevin Wiles. Max is an avid soccer player and outdoors enthusiast. He was able to play intramural soccer at VCU, as well as become a member of Green Unity, an environmental activist group.

This college is located on a 150 acre campus and is over a hundred years old! The college was started and founded by the Presbyterian church in 1899. The entire student body is around 1,400 with over 30 different majors available. The college also offers a variety of extracurricular activities including sports teams,clubs, student government, and musical opportunities.

Middlebury College is a relatively smaller school found in this town, with about 2,500 students. The college was founded in 1800 by Gamaliel Painter, who you can actually see his cane on display at the school. Middlebury was, “meant to be an orthodox Congregationalist school” (Albers, 181). Middlebury College (and University of Vermont), “Continued to draw students, despite dire predictions that Vermont would never have enough young people wanting an education…” (Albers, 181).

Hacienda Heights has a total area of 11,182 sq miles and according to U.S. Census Bureau from their ‘Age and Sex’ table of ‘2011-2015 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates’, Hacienda Heights have a population of 55,158 that consist 26,946 male and 28,212 female. According trom the ‘Children and characteristic’ table from the same survey estimates, the median household income in Hacienda Heights is $78,864. North Park University is a private university located in the North Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Also known colloquially as NPU, the university was founded in 1891 by Swedish immigrants who were members of the Evangelical Covenant Church. The university has changed drastically over the years, and while it recognizes its Christian history, it has developed into a liberal arts university that promotes multiculturalism and diversity. North Park University has a small, urban campus of around thirty-three acres. There are 2,200 undergraduates enrolled.

In the movie director John Singleton captures the life of college students of all races and cultures and beliefs from around country. The lead character Malik Williams played by (Omar Epps) an African american high prestige track athlete. Malik’s character struggles understanding the full particulars of knowledge, the real world and keeping up in his academic career. Malik displays low motivation and idea of hard work.

When settling the Chesapeake Bay, King James 1 chartered a joint stock called the Virginia Company for explicit religious mission. In the book, America a Narrative History the authors state, “The Virginia Company planted the first permanent colony in Virginia. On May 6, 1607, three tiny ships carrying 105 men and boys reached Chesapeake bay after four storm-tossed months at sea.” (Tindall, Shi 35-36).
