In the Italian region of Tuscany, some of the world’s most notable and distinguished wines are produced. Although Tuscany is globally known for producing the famous Chianti Classico, there are various other types of Tuscan Wines and other typologies of Chianti. For analyzing and discussing different vintages of a particular wine, a vertical tasting is implemented to evaluate the type of wine. A vertical tasting is done in the order of year and can be used to evaluate how unique and different every year can be; for example, Chianti Classico can have many different characteristics when comparing consecutive vintages. Chianti is a core area of production between Florence and Siena where the wines Chianti D.O.C.G. and Chianti Classico D.O.C.G. are produced. One of the main differences between Chianti D.O.C.G. and Chianti Classico D.O.C.G. is that Chianti D.O.C.G. can be made with both red and white grapes in addition to the minimum of 70% Sangiovese grape while Chianti Classico D.O.C.G. must be made with red grapes only and with a minimum of 80% Sangiovese. Another difference is that Chianti D.O.C.G. is produced in an area with a large stretch of land encompassing the western reaches of the province of Pisa near the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the Florentine hills in the province of Florence to the north, to the province of Arezzo in the east and the Siena hills to the South.
